Tight vs Wide Wobble Crankbaits

Featured Replies

I put this list together today. Did I leave any good ones out? Did I get any on the wrong list? I’m assuming tight wobble are best for cold water. When do you throw tight wobble?

*Lunkerhunt Impact Flat Sided Squarebill, 0-2.5ft
*Lunkerhunt Impact Jolt Flat Sided, 0-8ft

*SPRO Little John Top 50, 3-5ft

Tight in water under 55 degrees. Wide when it warms up and in stained water where displacement is helpful.  There’s nothing to say tight vibration won’t work in warmer temps but I’ll usually factor in clarity.

The new 6th Sense Process is pretty slick.  The Normans Fat Boy has a real wide wobble. Finally, the Luhr Jensen Speed Trap as a flat side is very productive.

I throw the Flats more in the spring /prespawn when the water starts to warm and the fish move up on the bank.

Around here we throw the wiggle wart/RK crawler during the winter in water that's high 40's to low 50's and they bite them into the 60's. So, I would get some with a wide wobble that run deeper.

If you want to see them in action, jacob wheeler did a video series on a bunch of those in the pool.  He did it a couple months ago and you can see the wobble/pitch/roll as it comes through the pool.  He then also took them onto the water and checked actual diving depth on livescope.

generally i like to throw tight wobbling cranks untill the water hits 60 degrees.  between 60-68 it’s kinda touch and go either tight wobble or wider wobble will work depending on the mood of the fish.

Under 50 degrees of  water temp if i’m throwing crank it will be a shad rap.  once the water temp hits above 50 i’ll start throwing the other tighter wobbling cranks.

Fished 6th Sense Pressure series yesterday and its a beautiful tight wobble

Yea...definitely 6th's answer to the Frittside.  Frittside has to be the most successful launch since Lucky Craft's RC series 20 years ago.
