Daiwa Tatula 100 with 'hyper drive digigear'

One of the attributes found in Daiwa casting reel was how you felt connected through the gear train.  The newer models really do a great job of providing that feel while smoothing out that feel.

What's your thoughts on all these now?

I think they’re both excellent.   I have barely used my ‘21 zillion SV this summer and as much as I like that  reel, I wouldn’t be upset if I had only these tatulas to use from now on.  They’ve held up very well.

Sweet, I feel validated haha

Why've you barely used the zillion this summer?

Just not on the rods I was using lol.  And I know it’s legit so I wanted to use the tat 80 and 100 for the season.  I didn’t even use my steez’s much.

100's have held up well over time, too @Banned User And the new 150/200's with the digigear feel the same way so far.

I wonder how the 200 will survive over two season chunking glide baits and other large stuff.

The previous version without hyperdrive digigear has held up just fine. My brother has 3 and pretty much all he throws anymore are bigger baits.

That depends what you consider as fine. From what i saw, they became way too noisy and grindy for my liking.

Meaning reasonably smooth, and not much different than how they came out of the box. Same for my 150. Still quite smooth after several years of hard use.

Not my experience with any tats prior to digigear ones. Very smooth at first, but like most cheap reels, lose it pretty quickly.

I haven’t kept up with patent law since retiring 10 years ago.

Back then 8 countries made up the international patent group. Japan was the only Asian country and 6 Western European counties and USA.

NDA’s, trade secrets, trade names and patents are not honored by China and other Asians countries. You go to those counties and give all protection for manufactured products.

The previous gen 150/200 are built on the older HD metal handle-side side plate platform with 28mm wide spool and cannot be compared to the CTs, especially types with plastic side plates. Different animal.
