I’m wondering how much the extra $100 from the Levante to the Orochi XX will get me? Specifically asking about the Braillist model. Im not terribly concerned about the price but half again as much is a big price difference. Is the braillist blank almost the same between the two? I remember hearing somewhere that the levante blank feels slightly more monderate in the Braillist. 

Yes, the levante blanks are more moderate.

I have the Brailliat in the Levante line.  It’s a nice rod that I never use.   I use the Orochi XX Tour Versatile for what i planned to use the Braillist for.  The Orochi XX Tour Versatile rod is ok.  Not always reaching for it to use but it does the job when in need it too.  I just use it because it cost enough that I feel like I need to use it at least once a year lol

 

if you got the Levante Braillist I’m sure you wouldn’t be disappointed though. 

The Orochi Brailist has a nice jig action. To too fast but locks ups slightly deeper into the blank.  It is overall heavy in weight, surprisingly for its price point and is ever so slightly tip heavy. Sensitivity is very good.  The Levante Brailist is a bit slower but locks up nicely.  Balance is pretty good with a 150 size reel.  Foam split versus all cork.  I like both frankly.  The Levante will double nicely with larger soft swim baits like a 7 inch Magdraft.  I think the Lavante is a better bang for the buck series.

I’m picturing using it mostly for jigs, is the Levante more moderate than you’d want to be your only jig rod? Also what about a 100 size reel? I’m picturing a zillion.

I have a Levante Brailist with a Zillion.   Liked it a lot for dragging footballs and 5-6" swimbaits. Sold it and branched out to a new Zillion rod for dragging.

Was there a specific reason why you sold it? I’m picturing using it mainly for flipping/ casting jigs around deeper grass. Using it for magdrafts would be a good bonus. I’d probably stick to fishing t-rigs on a 7’3 MH/f

It is not a moderate action. I’d refer to it as a regular action.  I have a Tatula 100 on it with 20 J Floro.

I was dumb lol.  It was great but I got caught up with "could it be more sensitive?"  Which of course is yes, but was the improvement worth the cost? I'm not 100% sure.

So I’m hearing a lot of good things about the levante, I guess I’ll save myself the $100

After using both lines the Orochis tend to be more crisp and have more power. At the price point you’ve got so many options it’s hard to say what lines the best. MB tends to make a much more versatile rod for most applications which can help if you want to throw more than just a pitching jig.

Thanks, I think I’ll go with a braillist just because of how much I use a jig, I’ll be fine if it’s not the most versatile. 

Fished both in spinning models. I didn't feel that the blank was different at all. Foam vs cork and the orochi has cool details but $100 difference? In my opinion...no.

It’s Matt Allen’s favorite jig rod and over the last five years I’ve purchased several rods and reels partially due to his recommendations and have been happy. Enjoy your new rod!
