Yamamoto Sanshouo

Featured Replies

Anyone have experience with this bait and willing to share how they use it? Yamamoto just announced they're doing a limited run, and as a big Yamamoto fan, I'm intrigued. Looks like it would be a slick C Rig or Texas Rig bait perhaps?

Sanshouo makes a good “toad” lure fished weed mats with some open holes to drop into.

Never heard of it?

Basically it’s a creature bait that can be rigged a number of different ways, c-rig, jig trailer, punching bait, etc.  Lucky me, I have a bunch that I got way back when they were first introduced.  I have the prototypes.

Have you had much luck on them?

Resembles a salamander/mudpuppy. Free-rig that sucker during the spawn.

It does look like it would be killed on a free rig.

I got the email too... I have four bags on the way. Thought they would worked light T-rigged or on a jika rig crawled along the bottom. One of the Texas lakes is notorious good for using water dogs as bait. I still haven't found where to by them (the water dogs).

Hmm. Wonder how well that would work in south Florida. We have axolotols, sirens and amphiumas down here.
