Left my Piscifun Torrent Baitcaster reel outside all year. I live in the Midwest so it saw plenty of temp changes, snow, rain etc..  Seems totally fine, but I'm sure it needs to be cleaned really good. I know its just a $30 reel, but believe it or not its one of my favorites. Should I take it 100% apart, f just a simple soapy bath and re apply lube and oil? 

If you can open it up and look at the internals.. They will probably be needing some attention..

I pulled the spool out and opened the side. Everything looks fine, im sure its deeper then that though. 

At least it was a Temu brand, and not a Shimano or a Daiwa🙃

I would pop open the gears at least and see what those looks like. If everything still turns smoothly you're probably in the clear. If you feel any grittiness there's probably some rusted bearings somewhere in the reel.

Doesn't surprise me. If I'd tried the Piscifun Alijos 400 first, I wouldn't own any Tranx or Lexa HD's. These reels punch well above their weight.

@MoeBass If you’re fairly mechanical and comfortable doing I just googled/you tubed tear down/maintenance videos of your reel and there are a couple different ones if you’re interested. Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress.

I agree with @Eric 26, tear it down to a point you feel comfortable. Look for rust and if it all looks good, re-lube and use it. I know I treat mine with kids gloves, but they are tougher than you think

I bought 6 piscifuns a few years ago and agreed with this until I didn't. I'm down to 1 phantom and 1 Spark that still work. 2 other phantoms catch or bind every few cranks of the handle and the 2 spinning reels (can't remember the model) had their gears rust together. 

 

On the other hand, the cheap Kastking rods and reels I purchased at the same time are still kicking.

Wow thanks for the leg work. I did not know there were vids on take down for that reel.

My rods and reels are stored in an unheated, non-climate controlled shed all winter. I live in the northeast (southern tier of New York state to be exact). I have never had a problem with my reels rusting internally. I did once leave a rod and reel in the bed of my truck (which has a soft bed cover) all winter one year.....that reel did rust.
