Which one do you prefer or do you use another brand of soft plastic swimbait? I prefer the cullshad but the mag draft has been a proven producer for me over the years. Maybe it's the honeycomb that gets me excited. lol What say you fine folks?

I voted for Magdraft as that's my most confident bait right now, but the Daingerous loaded swim bait has been tied on my rod the most lately and feels likely to surpass the Magdraft before long. I'm not a big fan of the Cullshad- it's too light and harder to get the weight right IMO.

pre-rigged it is a magdraft all day, but i prefer rigging a beast coast creep on an 8/0 swimbait hook.

The Bass Mafia Daingerous and 6th Sense Whale in the 6" are by far my favorites in this category, IMO they look better and fish better than the overpriced Megabass that rarely ever goes on sale and comes back on its side every once in awhile.

MSRP on them is dirt cheap, and since both brands go on sale ALOT it makes the price per bait insanely low. For instance i walked past a Magdraft last week at $15 for one, i recently paid $6 for a 2 pack Daingerous, and $5-6 for a 3 pack Whales.

No experience with the Berkley products yet but they look good.

Seems to me like the MagDraft is more temperamental with speed. It has a small window where it runs right, but it's very easy to reel it too fast. I have an 8" Magdraft I paid $25 for and can't get to swim correctly to save my life.

Magdrafts are great. Have a couple of Cullshad but have yet to try them.

my typical large “small” swimbait setup is a 4.75 or 5.75 Rage Swimmer with a weighted underbelly hook

The Zaldangerous one is like a perfected Magdraft, has the same head wobble and kick but you can swim it at a much greater variety of speeds.

The problem with the Magdraft is that you have to retrieve it in its sweet spot.

i'm gonna start a collection of the tiny magnets that come out of a MagDraft after 4-5 fish.  hahah.. stick up tiny love notes to my wife on the fridge.

great bait, but not a durable bait.

lately, i have been using the Little Creeper Trash fish.  i'll keep the hook from the magdraft to rig up as a stinger hook.

Not to mention the Daingerous is much more durable IMO. And like you alluded to, can be fished at higher speeds without blowing out.

When I first heard of the Daingerous, and after how Chris left Megabass only to 'design' this new swimbait for Bass Mafia, I bashed him pretty good for knocking off Megabass so bad, just based on the looks. (though to be fair I took more issue with how he was saying how much time him and BM spent designing their new swimbait, even though it looked exactly like the Magdraft)

Point is, I use the Bass Mafia baits more than the Magdraft now. 😅 I really like the freestyle version as well. Swimming it slowly through sparse pads...so fun.

Yeah and I also forgot to mention how much better I like the line through top hook design on the Zaldain one as well.

I smoked about a dozen fish on one a few weeks ago, and it held up pretty well.

6" 6th sense whale is a definite fish catcher. I probably have 10 packs of them floating around now. So is the 6th sense sweep.

7" zaldain unrigged works pretty good too, and is big enough to cull out the 2 lbs fish mostly.

I really want a top hook line through though - I thought that Zaldain top hook one was a fixed hook like the bacca burrito. Going to have to pick one up.

I am going to order some of these.  or see if the shop has them.

the 5" pre rigged seem like a great solution.  I like to slow swim them.  the bottom hooks of the Megabass versions will plow into the snot-grass almost every time.  having the hook on top should mitigate the situation for me.

sinking vs floating?  seem like it is a weight thing.  any huge diff?

Yeah one model is just 1/8th oz heavier and sinks faster.   Both are sinking baits though.

Sounds like you might prefer the shallow model.

thanks.  I am in  an online work meeting.  wasn't distracted enough to get on another computer and put in an order.  thanks for the info.  I felt I had the info to choose.  shallows on the way.
