Featured Replies

Besides keitech easy shiners and swing impacts what are your guys favorite 3-4” similar swimbaits? I recently tried out the berkley ripple Shad’s and love em

I’m all about the Rage Swimmers.

Tacklemax Fugitive are good and twice as tough as Keitech.

OSP Do Live Shad

Bottom Up Volup Swimmers.

Mayor

EZ

Largo Shad

Rage Swimmer

Whale

Skinny Dipper

Swammer

Scottsboro

It depends what I'm doing.

On a Free Rig? OSP Dolive Shad. Because of the keeled bottom, the OSP doesn't nose down immediately as most swimbaits do. Instead it glides impressively.

On a jig head, underspin, etc? XZone Swamner

The new BPS Maxx Action Speed Shad really wiggles and waggles.

Z-Man Slim Swimz.

I like the BPS Speed Shad and Skinny Dipper & Bass Assassin Die Dapper. I also throw alot of 4" Swim Senko's and the Charlie Brewer Swimming Grubs up to 4". I throw a ton of different shad style bodies on jig heads and also like the Ripple Shads and Big Hammers.

I got in on the first drop of the Working Class Zero Micro Citizens. They are 5 to a pack for $20. Because of the success I have had with the big Citizens, I ordered 4 different colors. I was second guessing myself at the $4 a bait cost, but let's just say I reordered on Sunday's drop from The Hook Up Tackle without any regrets - zero!

Which colors are working for you?

The Crush City Mayor, 6th Sense Whale, Megabass Spark Shad, and the X-Zone Swammer. All these baits have been doing well for me. I couldn't tell you which one has worked best and in what situation I would fish one or the other except the Whale and the Spark Shad. Both of those I like to fish just under the surface above grass. Both of them seem to draw fish out of cover.

The reaction innovations little dipper is my favorite right now and green pumpkin watermelon does well around bluegill. Labrat is also a great color if you are around shad. Also ordered some of the micro citizens last weekend but they haven't arrived yet.

2 of my favorite 3-4" swimbaits have been or are in the process of being discontinued.

The 3" Reins Rockvibe is a killer strolling bait.  The body shape and tail configuration is unique and creates a different look in the water.

GYCBs orginal Saltwater Swimbait had a pogy/shad style body and was the first bait to use the heavy stepped boot tail that the swimming senko uses.  Yamamoto's high quality, dense, soft plastic combined with the heavy kick of the unique boot tail made it a SW go to for years.  Available in 3.5" and 5" replicating anyhting from peanut bunker to hickory shad, the  heavy weight plastic enabled you to cast farther than a wildeye or Mister Twister and super soft plastic stayed supple enough to give you great action in the winter surf.  The 5" knock harder than Swammer, yet keeps it depth. I have but 11 5" bodies and 9 3.5" left in choice colors and man I would love to see them or someone bring the mold back, (HINT HINT Yamato guy)

Yeah, the keitech is modeled after the Rockvibe.  That rockvibe shape has been a big producer in Japan for decades, especially for some kind of mountain trout.
