Welcome aboard!

Everyone on this Forum has a favorite brand and will recommend a particular model for you to take a look at. Let's start with the approximate price you want to spend and specify if you are interested in a low profile or round reel.

BTW,

There are a couple of threads running now that you might see or run back through the many pages in this section. Reel discussions come up a lot, that's a big part of a fishing forum! Have fun, there are plenty of members willing to share their suggestions with you.

Welcome To The Forum!

bassendave,

As RW has stated you will get a lot of recommendations. The best one you could get, would be to take your new rod to the shop, and place the reels that you are interested in on the rod to see how it feels in your hands.

It all winds up being a matter of personal preference.

You will see over time that many of our members are VERY loyal to specific brands, but before getting into that I'll offer this observation:

There is no "best" reel, only "favorite" reels.

Quality components, various features and dependability can be (and are) promoted, but at various pricing points there are a number of good reels. Having said that...

Really RW?  I had hardly noticed.

Ha,ha RW. I was waiting on you when asked " What kind of reel should I put on my rod ". I felt a tremor under my feet and then it was " Thar she blows " ---SHIMANO--- from good ol' RW.  :)

Good all around reel would be a Chronarch or Zillion.

Antares DC or Steez. Those are your only options for that particular rod. :)

Just kidding. Find a couple in your budget and ask opinions on each. You will definetly get input from these guys.
