Man that sucks. I have been dealing with some CTS, but I've found that if I cast using both hands, it alleviates the problem. So perhaps finding a new method will help you to heal and continue to fish a limited amount.

Sides, you don't have to fish every day... lol. That sounds exactly like something my wife would say to me.

lol yep mine as well

  • Go ahead and try that homey, you’ll be right back flinging jigs within a week!

@Joedodge injuries don’t magically heal if you keep exacerbating the problem. I had to take time off from fishing in 2022-2023 due to a shoulder injury. It helped me recover. I was able to learn a lot

rock fishing ends Sept.

I'll be "old man and the sea" most of august.  it is downright cold out there.  never gets into the 60's.  dry suit over a hoodie weather.

I suppose I am lucky I have a refuge from the heat.    the drive back to my house from the sea, I keep dialing the AC cooler and cooler.  hahahha...  my house is in a cooler climate, but my lakes are right there "next to Africa" in the heat zone.

Ohhh yeah that’s actually a pretty good idea. I love my jigs. But considered just throwing spinning gear wacky and nail weight rigs

That’s what I did for 4 weeks.  Neko and Ned rigs primarily, some Texas rigged finesse worms.

I think that’s gonna be the plan. That and the stretches and exercises.

if your getting burned out take a break. It will be good to let the elbow and shoulder rest anyway. September is a notoriously tough month most places too so you may want to go light that month also. by mid october when its starts getting cooler and the bite picks up youll be itching to go.

Oh for sure. Can’t wait for October. Definitely not burned out. Ya can’t have killer days every time ya go fishing. But it’s probably for the best.

I’ve been off for almost the last month. Lakes are 12-15 foot over pool and the rivers at near flood stage, fast and dirty. Pounding rain everyday and high 80’s\ 90’s with 70-80% humidity tends to keep one inside.

Tournaments are even being canceled due to ramps and parking lots underwater with E-coli outbreaks at the reservoirs due to flooding waste treatment plants. It’s been a terrible summer for fishing, but bank fishing is great if you want to have a go at picnic tables and playgrounds.

Wow! Man we have had some flash flooding here and a lot of rain but nothing like that! I’m sorry to hear that.

Yeah, I’ve been out a couple of times unsuccessfully so I’m waiting it out. This week is low 90’s with heat index near 110, pop up thunderstorms and the lighting is the real threat.

ahhhh, summertime!

I know you are somewhat recent to the state.

We can have tremendous amounts of fluctuating weather in a short period of time.

You will hear things like "If you don't like the weather, just wait 24 hours".

Or after a rapid 30-40 degree temperature swing, "Only in Iowa".

Nice sunny day and the next day it's a blizzard? "Only in Iowa".

Not the greatest weather here, but the people are.  :)

You are in a much bigger city than me, I'm about 5,000.  :)

There's better weather, better bass, better a lot of other things in other states. But I can't think of a better place to raise a family.

That’s my only gripe the area we are in is a lot like where we came from. And growing. But the school system is outstanding. We will definitely move in the next 8 years once my daughter’s done with school. But you are so right. It’s nothing like Florida raising a family is amazing here

If you're hurt or sick, its not worth it, especially in August.  You can cause more damage that could force you to sit out later in the fall when the fishing is better.

After the 4th I cut my FW way back.  The fish get in a real lazy mood when the water heats up and the oxygen saturation is at its lowest.  There can be some great fishing, if you run up to the headwaters of ditches and canals and can find water deeper than 3' with some flow.  The big girls stack up in that this time of year.

And I'm walking the dog (NOT A SPOOK!) and taking naps. We should be with @WRB-2.0!

Speaking of Tom, I wonder how many times in Tom's life he's shared that he's caught 17, 18, and 19-pound lmb and the listener understandably assumed that he was telling a whopper about whoppers given that so few have actually caught bass that big.

More than 50% I assume. I don’t post pictures but they are available via PM and a few independent publications. It seems like bragging and no longer interested in posting that data.
