$610 to $645 plus tax plus $75 shipping.

Pretty steep price for sure!

Tackle Warehouse is always free for purchases over $50

Did it happen to YOU? If so, did St. Croix honor the warranty?  If so, then why are you talking about a broken part instead of the stellar customer service?

But if it didn't happen to you, then ...  bro

I just broke a Victory rod and for $60 they replaced it, no questions asked

You’d have to be borderline insane to spend that much on a rod that you can’t even hold or touch either.

This is the thing. I trust St. Croix. I know it’s not smart but over 20 years of bass fishing they have always done right by me.

I’d be willing to spend the money on sale for a new stick. I love my elites and my legend x. I have NRX+, Daiwa AGS Steez, and Megabass P5s. Still reach for my St. Croixs on the daily. There’s something about the familiarity, the way they function on the water.

I’m sure I’ll be trying the new Legend at some point, and I kinda expect it to perform like the two dozen rods before it.

I have 4 St. Croix rods with Trigon handles.  No issues at all.  Nothing broken.  Everything works like new.

I have several other St. Croix rods.  Again, no issues, no problems....flawless.

I like them too, and have several of their sticks for 15+ years.

I still wouldn't buy another one without looking at it in person though.  It's like buying footwear without trying it on.  Won't even consider it.

Tell me who at St Croix is designing these handles.

I just want to talk.

It's just seems risky, but it was ok'd..  Maybe the mojo trigon sold better than I thought.  I'll reserve judgements until I hold one.

I can arrange that.  Seriously.  I know him and can arrange a meeting.  He'd be happy to talk to you.

Let me know some dates/times and a good phone number he can reach you.

I mean, jokes aside, I am interested in the design philosophy. St Croix went from classic, full grip designs to some pretty off the wall choices.

I'd really like to see an SCVII blank with a full grip and an ECS seat.

The design was borrowed from the golf industry.  They've been incorporating triangular grips for years on drivers and putters.

These would be similar to the original Legend Elites from the late 90s although with a better graphite used. I'm pretty sure the originals had full grip and fuji ECS seats

OH they put a Super Stroke on there. That's probably comfortable.

No, not a Super Stroke.  Not at all.

It's clear you've never held one.  And it's a sure bet you never will.  So....

Putters yes, drivers no.

That would make it illegal.

The only club that can have a flat sided grip is the putter.

They're also using graphene in the blank, like the Chrome Soft ball.

It's kinda neat.

I’d really love to try one out myself as well. Maybe it feels better than you’d expect.

Recently got mine a 7'1 mh xf and I'll say first impression is that they are way better than the xtremes. My xtreme in that version before it went in the lake was quite dissapointing that even I wasn't that bummed out when that happened. Hated the ags guides due to how fragile they were and the thing was way overpriced for what it is. The legend x2 here feels amazing so far. I have it on an antares 2025 and even with that it doesn't feel too heavy. It is very light. Sensitivity wise its phenomenal. I have pure fluoro on there so with braid it probably be even better. I haven't fished a nrx but I did let my buddy use it who does and he could barely feel the difference. As far as the trigon grip goes I have no issues with it. I've been fishing with a physyx and no issues there too. Kinda reminds me the poison ultimas with the triangluar end. The cork they used is on the rougher side though compared to my megabass rods, not sure why.

Only time will tell how long it will last but I haven't broken any of my st croix rods yet and I'm quite rough with them. I think the majority of people who do break one or rods in general don't realize how badly we bass fisherman treat our gear especially boat guys. I've seen plenty of people on videos and in real life step on their rods without knowing they did. Bad boat flips too. I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons that I can't list. Manufacture defects do happen more than we would like, but I still think majority of rods that breaks are more user error.

Being the tackle junkie I am, I broke down and bought the spinning 7'3" MLXF rod. Throwing a 1/8 oz ned rig I compared it to my 6'10" NRX+  MLXF rod. Though totally subjective, I felt the SC was a bit more sensitive in that it felt crisper. Will it help me catch more fish? Probably not. As far as the handle, I don't know what the fuss is about. It felt fine to me. As far as the rougher cork, I felt it gave me a better grip.
