I have custom covers for the Boat, Motor &  Twin Talons.

I can even run both the motor & the talons with the covers on,

which when the bugs are bad, I will do.

But putting the boat cover on & off solo every trip is a little arduous.

So I get whatever I drive through.

Breathable vented engine covers that you leave on while operating is what I was talking about. They are new to me.

Just a word to the wise that whenever you use a vinegar or water spot remover, home made or store bought, it’s a good idea the put on a coat of wax or whatever your preferred protectant is.

My home made cleaner is not for water spots.  It is for glass, mirrors and my Hummunbird screens.  It is distilled water and isopropyl alcohol.

I got a quart of Ajay’s Boat BIng Hot Sauce.  I’m taking it with me to the lake today.  I’ll check it out when I get back to the parking lot.

Nice ~

Perhaps consider positioning yourself up wind of the spray.  Hot Sauce in the face is admittedly not the best.

Once you get the water stains off you never have to use an acid product again.  After every outing I go over my (black) boat with Lucas Slick Mist .  Just spray it on and wipe it off while it's wet.  Very easy and quick, and effective.  My 8 year old boat, exc for a couple small dents, looks like new.  As does the Merc black engine.  There is no need after one acid -based cleanup to use acid-base again.

Other wax manufacturers make other speed wax products that seem to work as well.

Agreed, the just pulled out of the water the wipe-down is the best-case scenario.

However, I still have a need for this product.

At least half my Lund trips on the water include

me staying late and I'm putting the boat on the trailer well after dark.

Then there's the chilly early & late season (snow) or I need gloves or fishing in the rain trips.

These scenarios see me wiping the rig down in my garage when I get home or even the next day.

I almost always wipe it down the next day after 4 hours on the road and 8 in the boat.  It still only needs the speed wax.

Kinda surprised your cover doesn't go over the bow mount.  My parents have a custom one for their Warrior that was fitted so it can go over the bow mount.

I didn’t get a chance to use the hot sauce.  A storm blew us off the lake and we drove home in the rain.  Everything is covered with road gunk right now.

First off, how's your Mom doing?

My custom cover is high quality and very protective.

Still doesn't do anything for the water spots on the hull.

Goes on & off OK, but is sort of time-consuming and a bit of a PIA doing for every trip'

solo and in the dark.

The shortcut is the long way and the long way is the shortcut.

YMMV

@wdp Dean is an actual chemist…I tried it in college once. Thought I wanted to be a chem engineer. That was just dumb.

Yeah, I read this thread earlier. Seemed like everybody had already covered all the bases so I saw no need to chime in. 😂

Plus, being a lifetime aluminum jon boat user with only a trolling motor, I don’t have any experience with the upkeep of bigger & nicer rigs. Bout all I do is rinse off the inside of my boat once in a blue moon when it gets a lil muddy inside. 🤣

I was able to get on the water for a while.  I took the Hot Sauce with me and udes it on the motor after we loaded up.  It did a great job.  Thanks A-Jay.
