  • I'm a spinnerbait guy... When I try a new spinnerbait I can usually tell in the first few casts whether it's a winner or a dud.  Way more duds out there than winners 😂.

  • I’ve always struggled to some degree tossing jigs into snaggy wood laydowns. No jig would consistently stay snag-free AND catch fish.  Until the 3/8 oz Sieberts Dredge Brush jig.    First flip,

  • Way back The Manns baby 1 minus . That was one heck of a bait

I can think of 5 times in my 46 years that I was extremely excited for a new to me lure.

○1990 when I fished a spinnerbait at my uncle's pond . I caught bass almost every cast for a few hours. It became my go to lure for years and I bought a bunch of them.

○2000 when I fished a jerkbait the right way for the first time and caught a ton of huge pike on an early spring trip. I got a bunch of them and never looked back.

○2012 when I fished a bladed jig for the first time.  After a guy at the local tackle store told me they were nothing special and more of a lure for down south. He told me I would be better off fishing a spinnerbait. I got 2 to try and caught a bunch of big bass in the coming weeks.

○2015 when I fished a m.s. slammer at night for bass. Caught some of the biggest bass of my life that night and it definitely set me down the path and obsession of using large baits for large bass.

○2024 last summer when I fished a dice bait for the first time on highly pressured water - caught a decent bass on the first 3 casts. They have been added to my regular arsenal since.

After a couple jerks I fell in love with the Shower Blows.

I can't say it's a staple as I throw the PopMax more.

Both are top notch and super fun to work.

If your talking recently then it's a Ned rig.

The last lake I fished for 2 weeks straight, was trying to get on a pattern.

Water temp was 80's, clear water and couldn't get the volume of fish I wanted.

Finally switched to Ned and the numbers went up drastically so stuck with it and had a fantastic 2nd week of fishing.

Stupid looking bait that simply catches fish.

I think anyone that's fished a Ned would share the same thoughts.

For some reason, that thing works.

Dummy me I think it's boring and haven't thrown it all year. Heck not sure if I did last year either.

Years ago, the Yamamoto fat ika. Like a senko, not exciting to fish, but catches them. I need to get back to them, have not used one in years.
