Whens the last time you fished a lure for the first time and thought wow...

Many years ago when I tried a V&M creature bait. I changed companies several times before settling on the Deep Creek Lures Wise Whacker. Besides the dead of Winter I have a creature bait tied on.

What are your top 3?

There's a lot that I really like in different situations, but for day in and day out, can't go wrong...War Eagle double willows.  I have more of these than anything else, but funny enough don't use them the most....They are just the "when in doubt" one.

Hawg Caller, OSP, Molix, and Spot Stickers are on the short list too.

Have tried this bait. It's pretty bonkers how hard it vibrates. Really cool bait!

As for my bait? Deps Cover Scat for sure. Which lead me down the whole poop bait/mushi rabbit hole.

Surely one of my most productive and enjoyable baits to fish.

I have been dropshotting for quite a few years.  My go-to baits were always 5” Yamamoto Pro Senko, Kut Tail, or California Roll (now discontinued).  All Texas rigged on a #1 Gamakatsu EWG hook.  When the Shad Shape Worm was introduced, I resisted.  Too small, too plain, no action I thought.  Then I tried it.  My originals are now backups, still effective but not my first choice.  Second revelation came with the Ned rig, right along with a million other fishermen.  😝

That would be tomorrow - I'm going to throw the Flux Gilly for the first time.

Tell us all about it!

2" chartreuse Mr Twister on a 1/16 jig, many many years ago.

Green Pumpkin Max Scent Flat worm  drop shotting.

2.75 Keitech Fat Swing Impact on a 1/8 oz ball jig.

5" Green Pumpkin Yum Dinger wacky hooked.

Saltwater; Ava jigs, 17,27 and 47's.

Gulp Swimming Mullets on a bucktail.

Gulp Jerk shads on a 1/4 - 3/8 oz jig

Ned Rig. Simple and boring, but it just straight up catches fish

It's a very interesting bait.

I started off with the 5.3" with a weightless Texas Rig setup. But you rig it on the flat side so it's like a ray or a flounder.  But even though it's a big bait with some heft, with rigging it flat and the holes in it, it does not sink quickly. With that, I think it will end up being a good alternative to a weightless worm or even a flutter spoon when bass are feeding on larger baits.

What I ended up doing is keeping it T-rigged but adding a tungsten weight. I fished it in open water and tossed it into wood and laydowns. But I didn't get bit on it. In fact, I only had a few bites all morning and those were on an underspin. A front had moved in overnight and even after sunrise the temperatures were dropping.

There were some big bass blowing up on baitfish balls for about 20 minutes just before sun up but I couldn't get them to hit anything I threw at them.

I think that the Flux Gill is an interesting bait and I will throw it again the next time I'm out there. I do wonder if it will be durable or not.

The undulating up and down action and the side to side action looked great in the water. Next time I'll throw the 3.5" version as well. I may even try it on a drop shot rig.

This lol. Can't even tell you how many spinnerbaits I own at this point. I might fish like 5 or 6 of them.

The Snooper Frog.  But they cost too much.  It’s a special occasion bait at best.

I'm thinking 3.5" for Neko or Free Rig

Scooper Frog?

6th sense hangover (fast sink). It's a big soft bait but not giant, and has a lot of presence in the water. Bigger fish just engulf it - usually the treble is in the top of their mouth. Great covering water, great on scope. Cool thing is, everyone hates it so it's on sale all the time.

Keitech on an owner flashy swimmer underspin. It just gets bit. Flip it, hop it, slow it down, OH NO!

I texas rigged it with a 1/8 worm bullet and probably a 2/0 Haymaker hook.

it swims underwater, like I see most wild frogs do. :D

stopped off after work tonight and caught this guy with one.

I like full size bladed jigs too but the mini slays for me.

I think the Flashback Mini is more special than we give it credit for.

It's essentially a fish roller/hover stroller with its nearly round ball head. Which is why they include baits with Mylar and little to no tail action...because it's all about the rolling!!

I put a 3" Fish Roller on and it's fantastic. Mylar Minnow is also really good.

Was at the boat launch and my cousin had to go back to the car, so I cast the new Ned while waiting.  First cast a nice smallmouth.  Wow!

I know people have mixed opinions on them, but the first time I fished a Whopper Plopper easily fits this criteria!

This was back when they were fairly new. I had heard about them but hadn't tried them so I bought a couple of the size 90's before our summer Ontario trip.

The first day I started throwing them up over the rocks, the smallies started  EXPLODING out of the water after them. Had a BLAST that year fishing them and to this day, I ALWAYS have one tied on and ready.

They don't always want it, but if they are watching the surface, it can still lead to an awesome day!! What's more fun than a nice Small mouth crushing a top water lure??

Crush City Mayor, Keitech, and Zako.

The mooch minnow lived up to the hype for me.  It's a subtle roll but I think that tail design is clear water magic.
