State vs State 2026 Edition

I don't think I can participate!! )

I've eaten stuff that would make a billy goat barf. And while some of them where definitely not my favorite, I'd likely eat all of them again. So I'm not sure there's anything I wouldn't eat again. And I have my fat holding tank to prove it! LOL 😆 So I struggle to think of what, if anything, I wouldn't eat again.

Side note: when I was young and in the service, I picked up the habit of eating cold canned goods straight from the can. I still prefer cold Chef Boyardee Ravioli this way vs warm. If I'm going to be out for a long day with no prospect of eating "real" food, I'll bring a can or two along to sustain me for the day. Unfortunately, my wife finds this behavior borderline revolting. LOL 😆 Fortunately, this has also resulted in her bringing a spectacularly stocked Snacklebox (3700 size I think) when we are in the boat. LOL 😆

I recently caught a 4.8 lbs LMB, on the poop. As has been noted, our LMB and SMB provincial records are both the same here..roughly 10 lbs. And the LMB here are small and large ones scarce.. But you'll regularly catch 6+ pounders SMB here...So I think that's the only way up for me!!

For those that don't know, the Ontario bass season doesn't start until the 3rd or 4th week of June (depending on Zone), so you aren't able to catch those fat, chunky pre-spawn LMB bass legally. Also, it is ILLEGAL to post pictures of and weigh accidental catches before the season starts...So heads up to our American friends who might accidentally catch one here when the season is closed. You are absolutely guaranteed to catch some when fishing for Walleye, Freshwater Drum or Perch. End of PSA. )

This is my first post since the site is back up! Can you tell from my long, windbag post that I missed you guys??

Worst thing I’ve eaten is takuan, Japanese pickled daikon. I’m a pretty adventurous eater and I like most pickles but these were really bad.   Already posted this in the pictures thread but

I forgot to indicate the food that I wouldn't eat, even with a gun to my head.

May did see a few additions made here.

Now that the month of June settles in, the post-spawn bite should begin to ramp up in many places.

At some point, I have to expect that the Bass Resource angling assassins

will take advantage of this time of abundance.

While early success often sees the ladies with big heads and a Jenny Craig-like body.

As the weeks progress, those same fish usually start to fill out their frame.

The results of hooksets on the more full-figured fish could start showing up here anytime.

@scaleface

Nice fish, Dane!

Edit: I checked your figures. 8 lb 1 oz is 8.0625. Missouri's record fish is 13 lb 14 oz or 13.875 lbs. Then, 8.0625/13.875 equals a score of 58.11.

The road was closed on the lake i was planning on fishing, so I had to change plans and head to a different lake. I've been fishing a few hours and catching fish pretty consistently on a 6 inch Texas rigged pumpkin Zoom lizard. Just caught a 5 lb bass on a laydown. The next tree was a newer tree. Its behind me in the photo. Coverd in branches. I pitched the lizard in it and set the hook on this bass . She was immidiately wrapped around limbs and jumped twice , then I couldnt feel it. Thought she came off. I laid the rod down and walked my hands down the line then felt it move. She was still on there . I finally reached the fish and brought her out . Thats why she has that big sore on her. It was fresh from rubbing on the limbs.

So I got lucky twice. Once having to change plans and somehow landing that bass all wrapped up in that tree.

I was using ounces.
