Do you install aftermarket drag clickers?

Never found the need for one - I can always feel drag pay through the rod, and can't hear a clicker in coast wind.

When I rebuilt my (bought salt-used) '18 Ryoga with new MagSeal bearings and Basara gearset, that removed the stock drag clicker.

I have installed several for friends that wanted them. I personally don't use them on my reels

I like them in BFS reels but I don't feel the need to have them in anything else. Also, they can make working on the drag a pain sometimes. The little spring and ball head pin that make the clicking sound are often just sitting there and can easily fall out. Once they do they can be a challenge to put back in.

I haven't but I've been tempted to try it. I grew up on spinning reels, so drag peeling out without that sound still just seems wrong even after 20 years of using baitcasters. I probably use my zillion more than other reels in part because it has a clicking drag.

I'm under no illusion that it helps with fishing, but it does add a fun factor that has me thinking about doing it on a few of my other reels.

I have reels with & without, the reels without, won’t be getting it added to answer your question.

My fishing buddy installs drag clickers on every reel he owns. It's one major factor he consider when buying a reel. I personally don't feel the need, especially those aftermarket ones - some of them can hinder the smoothness of the drag.

Where are you guys buying aftermarket drag clickers? Are they always custom made, or are there generic kits? Are they decent quality? I've been curious about adding a drag clicker to an old BB1 inshore that I use for bait and wait.

On aliexpress, ebay or Temu.
