I don’t own any Lew’s reels but have several Stradics in sizes 1000, 2000, 2500, and 3000. Some are more than 20 years old and have only been greased and oiled. That’s why I buy Shimano.

I've got no experience with the Lew's, but hard to beat a Stradic at that price point. I've had an FK which I sold to "upgrade" to the FL, still have the FL and also have an FM. Had no issues with the first when I sold it, and have no issues at all with the other 2. Just solid, dependable reels.

When '19 Stradic was introduced, Tackle Advisors take-down review rated it as "The Best $400 Reel You Can Buy"

The only change to Stradic FM is a slight increase in spool/ line-lay pitch, which increases cast distance. If you ever have an interest in fishing threadline braid, Stradic is the no-brainer choice.

Not only will it manage line this well, it will keep doing it longer than other reels that come close but don't quite get here.

I use Stradics as well. Have for 30 years can't beat them for quality.

Although I’m not trying to sway you for either, the Lews is currently on sale for $183.99 at Tackle Warehouse if you do decide on it. I don’t own any Lews reels but I do have a 1000 sized Stradic and I understand why it’s so highly recommended.

All, good advice. I do not own any Lew's spinning reels. I do however, have the older Stradic Ci4 and the Vanford. Stradic FM it is. Thanks.

Quite frankly, that was the only reason I asked. I seen that too. Thank you.

Owned both. The hypermag was ok and the drag on it very clicky which is cool but something about it just felt a bit clunky and it felt like there was too much line capacity for me. Ended up selling that one but have kept the two stradics I bought and love them both. These days I'm pretty much using ultegras, stradics and vanfords exclusively for spinning reels, but I will say the hypermag was not a bad reel just not the one for me.

Owned a 2500 Stradic FL and it was smooth and felt solid with a fish on. Drag was silky smooth. Very high quality reel. I only sold it as I wanted something lighter for finesse fishing.

Stradic or Vanford depending on rod choice, & species. You simply can’t buy a better spinner for the money imo.

I agree with what others have said about the Stradic. Been using Stradic's since 2000 and no issues!
