‘26 BASS elite at guntersville

Congrats to Hank Cherry for winning. Where was the crowd? Couldn't have been but 200 people at the weigh-in from the drone shots. If bass fishing is growing you'd have thought more than that. I'm dating myself now but the BassMaster SuperStars in the early 90's in Illinois had way bigger crowds than that.

Im just happy to have something to do at work again!

  • I figured since they were pulling them up on traps, I’d go try the same. Just stayed local to HSV instead of going to Guntersville. Anyway, I’m not a pro. I lost both traps I took with me in the same

  • John Cox weighed in 2 fish, one just barely a keeper and the other was short. With the penalty, that's how he ended up -1lb.

Get those chartreuse curly tails out of storage right now !!!!!

Weather was probably a big part of it.

He was quite open about it being a grub and showing the color. He was a bit coy about the brand and whether they are available to the masses. It did appear that he had a couple different colors. The grub he threw when it was overcast looked more like a watermelon red.

Couple guys were quivering that spinning rod like they were near hypothermia. Was that a jighead minnow shake? Thought one looked like a fluke, but I've never fished a fluke anything like that.

A simple lead jig head with a grub is, and has been, a killer lure for Smallmouth bass in the Susquehanna River, and also on Cayuga Lake here in New York. I have fished a 1/8th to a 1/4 oz unpainted lead jighead with a curly tail grub for years. When a finesse presentation is needed, it is difficult to beat. The color of the grub depends on water color and daylight conditions. In clear water, bright sunlight conditions I use white, yellow or chartreuse most often. In stained water with bright light conditions I use chartreuse, blue, or green. In stained water with low light, I use chartreuse, black, red or orange most often. If I can only use one color for all conditions, it is chartreuse or white. Grubs also work well on a Ned rig or a dropshot.
