Fish Scale Recommendations?

Featured Replies

Does anybody have a recommendation for a decent fish scale under $100? Strictly personal use, no tournaments involved. Due to eyesight, digital is a requirement. Just for largemouth/spotted bass so no high capacity requirements.

I've been using a Berkley product, but after getting some screwy results I checked it with certified weights and confirmed it's pretty much useless, going to "Hold" before the actual weight is ever reached. The reviews on BassPro for everything in my price range seems to be junk, with more buyers running from them than like them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I carry 2 of the $8 digital scales in my boat. I've checked them with my wife's kitchen scale and they're accurate.

Thanks, that certainly works well with my budget. 😄 I’m not sure what kind of scale you’re using. Can you post a link or pic? I appreciate it!

There was a thread about this very subject not long ago.

On the auction site search this term and you'll see the link:

"40kg 10g Portable Digital Hanging Luggage Fishing Weight Scale"

Choose the one for $8.89 with free shipping and returns.

Ditch the hook and replace it with the 6" Rapala fish gripper. Amazon.com: Rapala Floating Fish Gripper 6", Lightweight Floating Design for Easy Retrieval and Safely Landing and Releasing : Sports & Outdoors

It's accurate and small. This is the same scale:

Thanks for all the great feedback. I must admit the digital luggage scales are tempting, at least for a test. At that price, it's definitely worth a shot. Thanks again.

I've been using this one for 2-ish years now, I have had no issues.

These work great. I got a bubba because I thought it would be cool to have all the friendly one-boat tournament tracker in it (to compete with friends) and the app, but I never use any of that stuff.

I use a TSA/airline approved luggage scale with a lip gripper. Tiny (half the size of your palm) and dead accurate (because they are used to calculate extra luggage fees for weight). Have checked it against a govt certified scale and it was dead on.

All for about $10.

Honestly there's probably a bunch of them out there that do what they're supposed to.

Whichever one you select, please use a clamp. Not a metal j hook. That's the most important factor with a scale.

I use a KastKing one.

I was in the market for a new one a few years ago and landed on the Tackle HD digital tourney scale after doing a fair amount of research into them. I use it in my kayak and from the bank (usually a few times a week) and have been happy with it. I want to say it cost around $40 at the time and feel like it's a pretty good value for that price.

I do also. And it works great for what it cost.
