“This connection is not secure” when on the forums?

Featured Replies

I keep getting this same message when browsing the forums. I’m on an iPhone using safari and the latest iOS.

Obviously I trust this site so I click “continue”, but I wanted to make sure everything is ok and see if @Glenn is aware of this.

So am I safe to ignore this?

Yes, you're safe to ignore it.

No, I wasn't aware of it, however I cannot reproduce it either. It's secure for me. I'm curious if anyone else is seeing it and, if so, what URL(s) they're getting it.

Although I have received that message on other sites I’ve never received it on here. I’m also using an I phone 16 but I use google as my search engine.

Since the last “update”, my iPhone gets that message about half the time coming here.

I as well…

I Phone 13

Safari

I notice it more if I don’t close out a previous page before coming on again.

Haven’t seen that one. But no matter what I do I can’t load the page half the time. No matter what part of the forum I’m on. Refresh,refresh,refresh….. forget it I’ll get back to what I was doing. lol and then sometimes it works perfect. Keeps me more busy most of the time honestly. Or on some of the Facebook fishing pages

I get the same message

iPhone SE

Safari

I have not seen it yet and I am using a I phone 17 with newest iOS

Guys,

There's nothing awry with the site or server. I just checked the error logs and ran multiple tests and checks, and everything checks out fine. Nothing is wrong. But something on your end is triggering it. likely a VPN, ad blocker, or anti-virus setting.

I refer you to this page: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/270224-login-and-registration-support-forum-help-help-desk/

There's a TON of helpful info in there beyond clearing cache and cookies.

I would check the virus and blocker items first - I run a VPN as a matter of course and it's never given me this error.

I get it more than half the time now too. iPhone 12 using Safari.

I just ignore and keep going. 🤣

I’m unable to recreate http error via MacOS Chrome or Safari. Might be tied to IOS Safari version, or older firmware. I’d suggest updating to the latest and greatest patch of whatever device you have.

I do get the constant page fails to load Joedodge mentioned on IOS chrome, MacOS chrome and Win11 chrome. Tested against mobile, personal, and work gear and it’s consistent. No VPN on anything, zero *** on mobile.

Because negative experimental results are as important as positive ones, I'll report that I never see this issue. I'm accessing from Google Chrome on an Pixel running the latest update of Android on it.

The fact that the problem is intermittent suggests that it's not a simple problem with your iPhone settings. (Assuming your kids are not messing with your setting behind your back). The fact that most of us are not having this problem suggests it's not a server configuration problem. There is a complex network between your phone and the bassresource.com servers that is different for each user and is constantly changing based on how you are accessing the site and from where. Something in that network is not working correctly some iPhones at times. Here is some information that might be helpful in figuring it out.

  1. Based on the screenshot, I can tell that the OP is on a wifi network. Is anyone seeing this problem while on a cellular connection?

  2. Post your iOS version instead of the model phone you have. You will find this under Setting->General->About. Just because your phone is up to date does not mean you are running the latest version. You have to specifically install major version updates. Your phone may not be compatible with the latest version 26 and if so you will not have the option to install it.
