Whats your favorite knot?

Featured Replies

I bring this up after reading 5 different knot preferences to tie on a spinnerbait.  Havent seen this posted before and I am curious what knots everyone uses.  I know most of use several for different applications.  I'm talkin the one you use most. Say to tie on soft plastic hooks, jigs, swivels, snaps, etc...

I use the uniknot because its quick and its only ever broken on me when I knew I tied a bad knot but threw it out there anyways cause I was impatient.

Palomar all the way.....except for spinner/buzzbaits......... 8-)

palomar 100%

Double palomar.

Up until a few weeks ago I didn't even know what a palomar knot was. ;D

Today, I'm working on the rapala knot.

100% Improved clinch knot.

Only difference is I pass it through the hook eye twice when using braid.

I tried them all, and there's only two knots I ever use (save wire knots),

the Uni-Knot and the Rolo Knot ::)

I use the improved clinch knot exclusively. I haven't had a lost fish due to knot failure in a loooooooooooooong time. The key to a good knot is check it often...if it looks like it is in dubious shape, re-tie. If you just got snagged and worked the bait free, re-tie. If you just caught and landed a fish, re-tie. That's what I do at least. I don't wanna have a good fish on and lose it cuz the knot fails. If I lose my first 5lber to a knot failure, I would hate myself for it. :)

San Diego Jam for everything except braid.  For braid I use the double Uni knot.

I always use a palomar knot, for mono and braid.  I havent had any knot failures this way yet.  :)

95% uni  - any line

4% uni to uni -  any line to any line

1% palomar - any line

I would probably use the Palomar more if I had learned it first.

Uniknot 100%; line to line, line to lure, line to hook.  All lines.  Have not had this knot break from cutting or fatique.  As stated before, retie often.
