The casting rod has a parabolic action, somewhat limited in what it should be used for. The spinning is only 6'7" , I like 7'.

Robert already has "a few" rods. I'm not knocking the Carrot Stick, but some might view it as a "novelty rod". If you are still looking for your second or third technique specific rod, there might be better options. If you already have a couple of dozen, then something exotic might be interesting.

Agreed, especially with that kind of flex pattern.  I'm real curious to see a Peacock on that thing.

When will these be coming out?

In conversations I've had with Ken Whiting,  there should be many more rods available during the 1st quarter of '08.  Based on my initial reactions of the Carrot, I am anxious to see what they have up their sleeves.

I think the rod will be a little soft for peacocks.  I am more curious to see how it fares against pirhana's.  

In your opinion Robert what would your carrot stick be good for (bass fishing)?   Do you agree with roadwarrior, is it a novelty or is it a great rod for 150 bucks.

I don't think it's a novelty at all.  People thought the same thing about carbon fiber when it came out.  These rods are IDEAL crankbait rods.  

nothing whiting has done has been a novelty.the paroblic rod was designed as a good crankbait rod.that's why it has the forgiving action.

I don't have a good crankbait rod at all.  One that will work, but not great.  However, I don't know that I crank enough to justify having one just for that.  Do you think it would make a good rod for walk the dog type lures also and maybe senko type baits.  I could totally make that work if I could use it effectively for just one other thing.

I'd hate to use a parabolic action rod for SENKOS. Get the spinning Carrot stick, and then you could use it for weightless senkos. But the Casting Carrot stick has the action that works perfect for crankbaits.

I think robert also said it's alright for spinnerbaits, but regardless, I wouldn't throw a senko on the casting version of the carrot stick.

Wait until the other models come out if you have your heart set on a carrot stick. From the sounds of things, they'll have quite a few options in a little while.

Very good point on the senko's.  I was mostly wondering about the topwaters though.  The main purpose if I bought the rod would be to have a good cranking rod when I did crank, but at this point in my fishing experience it would have to be able to do something else well.  I just kind of threw the senkos in there hoping.  Until Redline can give me his .02 do you have any opinions about it as a topwater(walk the dog) rod.  I'm not very informed on exactly what the parobolic action rules out.  I would think it would lend itself to walking the dog.

It's definitely a crankbait rod, and if it will handle B2's I may buy one...you can't argue for a high-end looking light weight split-grip for $150.

You may be ok walking the dog with this rod, but senko's are out in my opinion.

Trust me on this one- you will love this rod.  I honestly think it will go up in price once the word spreads.

I just ordered mine! I found them at Simmons Sporting Goods ( an ebay store) for $149 with FREE shipping and they have 10 more left if anyone wants one.  It is an ebay store simmonssportinggoods.   Can't wait to get it.  Now what reel to put on it? :-/
