$100 b/c  reel

Featured Replies

I am able to spend about $100 on a baitcasting reel, I will hold off a month or so in hopes of finding what I want on sale, but I want to know this:  You have a hundred bucks in hand, what b/c reel would you go for?  I'm a fan of the quality of daiwa, so thats where my eyes go first, but in all honesty...what would you pick?

Citica

+1 on the citica as well.  Shimano is giving a $30 mail in rebate on the citicas.

i'd get the 200d or 201d

I was in your shoes about a month or so ago, i chose the Abu Garcia Revo S, its small, lightweight and it fits well in your hand. It casts good and has a good drag on it. Here are some others i would buy for around 100$

if you can get to these reels somehow in a store, i would do so so you can get a feel for them becuase after all it comes down to how you like it not how everyone else does. Also if you like the Revo S i would look on these forums becuase a few people were selling the revo sx which is a step up from the s for 100 or less. Im not sure if jeguy is selling them anymore but they are good reels, good luck with whatever you pick.

Definatley the best buy for $100, but with a rebate that Citica is hard to beat. Either one you would be pleased with.

For $100, I'd definately go with the Citica over the Revo S.   It's easier to access the brake on the Citica.

Citica, Cardiff, or Revo   :)

citica 200d or 100dsv (if you have small hands)

get them for exactly 100 bucks, free shipping, and then that rebaite at www.deloscustomtackleshack.com

Thanks a lot guys!

Well atleast now its down to citica and the revo, just have to get my hands on them one last time and go with what feels best

  • Super User

then try the trion narrow spool.then make up your mind.

  • Super User

I too would recommend the Citica at your price point, especially with the rebate.

The cruxis would also be alright.

The trion is a reel I have and it is a great reel that has landed many a brute salmon for me. However, if you are a newbie to bc reels, I can tell you that the Shimanos are more "tolerant" and "forgiving" for apprentices who might not yet have the experience of properly setting the reel to the weight of the lure.

For me it would be the Revo S. Very good reel for the money.

Man I was just reviewing this thread, you have a lot of great suggestions here! The only way to make up your mind would be to buy one of each, then what ever you don't like put them on the Flea market>>I will be waiting

  • Super User

With shimano you need to mail in a rebate to get a decent reel for less than $100. With Daiwa, Quantum, Abu Garcia, and Pflueger you can get a good reel for less than $100 with NO rebate.
