What about you?

Recommended Posts

Do you fish with only 1 brand or do you use many? I'm in the stage of trying out new products so i have a few Shimano rods and reels and a few Abu reels and some other various rods. I dont think il ever be a 1 brand kinda guy, i like my Revos as much as the Citicas and i love my Shimano rods like i do my Fenwick's. How about you guys?

Reels - Shimano

Rods - Various graphite and glass

Lines - Various

Weights - Going to more and more tungston but any brand.

Spinnerbaits - Terminator and War Eagle

Crankbaits - Bandit, Lucky Craft, X-Rapp and Japanese Brands

Plastics - Senkos and Zoom

Buzzbaits - Cavitron

Hooks - Eagle Claw, Mustad, Owner and Gamakatsu

Scent - MegaStrike and Jack's Juice

Dyes - JJ's Magic

Electronics - Lowrance

I have always been a "brand" stickler, even when I played sports in high school and later days.  I stick with one brand for specific items and that's that.

Now, after saying that, I will purchase other lines, weights, hooks, etc. if I like them or believe they will produce strikes.

And then I will purchase special stuff, like the Ugly Duckling crankbait which is outstanding.

If you go with a national name brand you can't go wrong.

After all, the fish don't care about the brand name or its cost.  They care about how it performs and if they want to eat or kill it.

I stick with single brands for my rods and reels (Abu and St Croix). I found what I like and I am sticking with them.

Reels - all Abu (one Johnny Morris).

Rods - All Star and Fenwick.  A few BPS.  Maybe I'll buy more All Stars.  I know I won't buy anymore BPS.  I love my Fenwick rods.  I'll definately be buying more of those (got one in mind right now).

Switched to all lp baitcasters over winter. Bought several. Ran out of money before I could get to Shimano, but so far I can't say enough good about the Revos or the Quantum Energies. The Daiwas (153H) are giving me a problem with casting distance. I think I need to go with lighter line and longer rods. I also picked up a Daiwa 2500 spinner. What a sweet reel. Jury is still out on rods.

Just received a bps Nitro.  Can't wait to try it!

I'm pretty brand loyal when it comes to reels (shimano) as I feel that they're tried and true so why change unlesss they really start going down the drain.  Rods I can be more flexible with so far I've only fished st. croix and BPS extreme, but I'd love to give loomis a shot.

I only use Shimano reels because they last and I know how to service them.

I only use rods with a lifetime warranty; St. Croix Avids, Fenwick HMGs and Gloomis IMXs.

Reels,

Although I have a few ABUs, a Flooger and a Quantum, I am a hard core member of the Shimano posse. Most of my reels, both spinning and baitcasting are Shimano.

Rods,

As a rod builder, I like G-Loomis blanks and Lamiglas blanks. Both are the gold standard in their respective areas of performance. JMHO

I'll be loyal as soon as they show me the $$$$, but I have many more Shimano reels.

Reels

Shimano, Daiwa, Abu, Quantum, Okuma

Rods

Shimano, GLoomis, All Star, Star Rods, St. Croix, Custom Gloomis Blank Rods

Not very brand loyal I guess.

I would say I am brand loyal as much as I can be. For example G-Loomis is my rod of choice but due to the pricing of these rods it[ch8217]s kind of hard for someone with a budget such as me to have nothing but G-Loomis in the rod box. Now if I win the lotto, not only will the rod box be full of G-Loomis rods but so will my basement be full with a lifetime supply.

Same can be said about my reels. To replace all my reels with my favorite is going to take some major cash.

As for lures and such, I defiantly have some loyalty. You[ch8217]re going to have to shoot me dead to get me to throw any other spinner bait then a Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special, where going to have to fight till the death if you try to take my Scum Frog Popper away from me and I can guarantee world war three will start if someone touches my Charlie Worm[ch8217]s LOL.

Loyalty is based on confidence and when I have confidence in a product I stick to it. Of course I am always open to trying new for without new you will never get to the confidence level. All products start out new to the user at one point. The better products IMO are by companies that keep pushing the limits. The kind of companies that say man did we ever make a good reel this year, but next year where going to take it a step further.

Hmm...

I am. Usually just one brand dominates my tackle in a product sector,

but I might have a few rogues in the mix. Heck, I even have a STX!

Nope

Hate

VBS on any reel....Shimalo or other.

Neutral. Revo ST & STX system.

Love. Megaforce V, Z and specially Type R.

If you are not on that list, you are out completely ;D

The fact that I am a poor college kid makes me semi-brand loyal.

Almost all of my rods are of the Bass Pro brand.  A lot of people don't like them and maybe I don't know what I am missing but they serve me pretty well.

I really don't have a reel choice.  I like the size of the Revo's but they aren't nearly as user friendly as other reels.  I am still looking for a reel I am completely happy with.

I am pretty brand loyal when it comes to soft plastics.  I like Zoom products.  They have a trillion color combinations and they are salt impregnated.

Other than that, I don't really care what it is.

I have my favorites based on personal experience.......

Reels: Shimano and Daiwa

Rods: Loomis and St.Croix

Soft Plastic: Zoom and GYCB

Hard Baits: Lucky Craft and Rapala

Hooks: Gamakatsu and Owner

Jigs and Buzzbaits: Booyah

Line: I'll just about anything once...... I like select lines from several different companies.

I will always want to try new stuff from various manufactures though.

Brands I have had bad luck with Quantum (3 reels), All-Star (2 Classics), Abu Garcia (Revo Premier only) and Seagar Line.

One thing about my list though, I may be loyal to these brands but that doesn't mean that they too can't turn out some bad equipment from time to time.
