Im looking for a good jig rod in the $150 dollar range. I was thinking about a Crucial CRC-X66MH,  i use 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs, anyone have any suggestions or use this rod for jig techniques?

There are dozens of quality rods available in that price range and your choice is fine except I would suggest addition length if fishing heavy cover is an option.

I'm with Catt on this.  I have 6.5' and 7' MH rods and I'll take the 7s most of the time.

6 1/2' or 7' will be fine. I prefer 7' Heavy Power/ Fast Action, but

I'm in the market for an Extra Fast rod. $150 has been a target

price industry wide for a number of years. You have a lot of choices,

but I suggest being patient and picking something up from our Flea

Market.

I have that exact rod and while it is nice and was a big upgrade on what I was using.   I now wish I had bought a longer rod.

Crucial or Carrot Stix....both great rods.

Crucial is a good Jig rod for the money but I would use it in 7'foot

Fenwick Techna AV at Amazon will be in that range.  *** will price match if they have same model in stock.  When not apple-to-apple models for comparison, I found my Techna AV to be more sensitive than my Crucial.  Leon

I like a 7 ft med/heavy or heavy depending on the type of cover you plan on fishing. The med/heavy is great for dock fishing and the heavy is the only way to go when fishing heavy timber or grass. GL3 Gloomis or B&R outlaw rod. B&R outlaw rods are great and only cost 129.99

I use a 7' MH for flipping moderate cover like grass, lily pads and light brush and 7'6" heavy for lay downs and matted stuff.  the longer rod helps you flip farther

I use a 7' Heavy with a fast tip from American Rodsmiths, Kicker stix line.  Weights in at 4.5 oz, is super sensitive, and is priced around $179.  Best Jig rod I have ever used.  This will be the 4th season for the rod and it is still in perfect shape.

I have three different rods I use for jigs depending on the situation.

A 7' M for light or no cover

A 7' MH and a 7'6" H for heavier cover.

My vote goes to carrot stix for the heavier stuff, and St Croix for light cover.

I use a 7' MH Bass Pro Extreme.  Works great for me flipping and

pitching jigs and other baits.
