Best value in jigs

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I'm trying to force myself to start using jigs more often.  Which means I need to buy some jigs ;)

To start out, I've bought Booyah's mostly because I can get them easily.  However, I'm sure there's a wealth of smaller companies out there that make fine products.

Anyone have any input on jigs that are of a good value?  When you're buying jigs in quantities, a quarter per jig could results in decent savings.

Thanks

Take a look at our sponsor's Evolution Jig: http://www.evolutionlures.com/

Also, this is another jig I fish:

Not really looking to spend MORE per jig, but thanks ;)

my mistake. I think I misunderstood your meaning of "value". Jigs are not all equal, some are far more effective than others. To me, "value' means improving the chances of a bite from a BIG bass, hooking up and landing the fish.

Fair enough...

As I was writing the original post, the thought did cross my mind that is could be ambiguous.  But I was lazy and left it as is :o

But to be clear, I'm looking for high quality jigs (good color selection, good components, etc) at good prices.

Well, for $2.99 you should take a CLOSE look at earthworm77's jigs.

They say, "The devil's in the details," and Craig pays attention to details.

Jigs are one of the very few things I 'm cheap with, I purchase Uncle Buck 's and Enticers from BPS, reason why I 'm cheap with jigs ? well, I don 't remember actually returning to the T-box at the end of a day, I normally loose them ..... many in the first cast  >;). Buuuuuut, ya know what they say, "if you ain 't fishing them when they can get hung up then you ain 't fishin 'em where the bass are".

I haven't bought a jig from anywhere besides D&M Customs for the last year.

I fish mostly football heads and their's with an ultra sharp gammie is $1.99. Their flipping jigs are only 2.50 and are plenty sweet too.

Also the only buzzbaits and spinnerbaits I use anymore.

Your fishing a really good jig already, with the booyah. they have some really good prices on the web page lurenet.com, under internet specials.

Our very own G MAN made me some very VERY GOOD jigs this year, contact him you will not be disapointed 8-)

Oldham's Screw-Lock Jigs with Gamakatsu hooks $2.99 for a pack of 2 but like Raul I've catch hundreds of bass on Wal-Mart Renegade Jigs.

X2 to what roadwarrior said, but I must admit, I'm a little partial.

Craigs jigs are top quality and you'll be hard pressed to find a better performing skirt. They flare and act unlike any I've ever used.

Eakins Finesse Jigs.

The 5/16 oz. size are fish catching machines, and only 6 bucks for a 3 pack.

Eakins all the way!  3 jigs for a little over $5.00 and they are really good jigs.

GMAN's Poison Tails are the frickin' bomb!

I refuse to fish a jig that's not hand tied, with a round rubber skirt, therefor, I only fish hand tied jigs.  The rubber band crap just doesn't cut it.

ive been lookin at skinny bear jigs ..... just for what broke was sayin ... altho not sure skinny bear are hand tied .... they are tied with wire ..... they look like a sweet jig ....

When I order my jigs, it is usually 20 or 30 at a time. they are banded.

when they show up i sit down in front of the tv with some 65lb braid, superglue, and some fingernail clippers.

wrap the braid around the skirt 3 or 4 times just ahead of the band

tie two overhand knots

drop of superglue

clip the band

clip the tags

Hey,

Brokejew, check out the bedbug from booyah. handtied jig with live rubber. Really a good looking jig.

http://www.sunrizetackle.com/shop/closeout_body.htm How you going to sell jigs and not have the color black/blue?? Man.. what are these people thinking, thats like selling softbaits and not having the color greenpumpkin, this shows me I should get into the marketing buisiness, I'd probably make a fortune ;).

It's a "closeout sale."

They probably don't need "inventory reduction" for black & blue jigs.
