Your favorite mono and flourocarbon?

Featured Replies

Im lookin to start investigating some new brands of line to see if i can find somthing better thatn suffix, figured id go try the unanimous decision.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, its the best of both worlds!

I like the Yozuri Hybrid or Gamma when using mono, I am a recent convert to Trilene 100% for applications calling for Florocarbon. I like Spiderline Stealth when I need braid, performs well and is reasonably priced.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Ultra Soft. Like stated above, it is the best of both worlds. Awesome line! ;D

I dont care for mono much at all, but if I am using it I'll use Berkley.

For Fluro I like Berkley 100%, but I just started using Seaguar InvizX on my jerkbait rods and the stuff is awesome!!!!

Pline CXX, Izorline XXX, Sunline Shooter

My favorites:

Berkley Big Game mono.

Berkley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon.

P-Line 100% fluorocarbon.

BPS, XPS Fluorocarbon.

The XPS Fluorocarbon is great line.  You think because it costs less it would have a downside, it doesn't.  I've been using the XPS for about 6 years now and it's great.  Just recently tried the Trilene and P-Line, both are great lines too, though I can't say they are better.

Beginning in 2009, the XPS line is being made using a different formula than in the past.  I haven't tried the new stuff yet.

Each has its place.  I've switched to Flouro for bottom and mid depth fishing 17# Pline flouro.  Topwater stuff is mono 12# Big Game.  I also have 12#mono on a cranking stick.

For mono I prefer Original Stren and P - Line CX Premium. For fluoro, I like the P - Line fluorocarbon or Seaguar.

For bass fishing :

   - BPS flourocarbon only (cheap Torey)

   - mono/copoly: about 80% of times i use Tectan Premium, I also use Trilene XL, P-Line CX, Stren Original depending on water conditions and season/temperature

p-line cxx 12#

caught many 30 inch stripers on it

Berkley Big Game Green!  Been there done that and can't go wrong with it.  It is always easy to find, cheap, and works!

Straight up nylon mono?  Suffix, either Elite or Siege, as long as its pretreated with KVD L&L.

Copolymer?  P-Line CXX on baitcasting, treated with KVD L&L.

Fluoro, that's a moving target for me lately, though I like Sunline Shooter in 10 lb. size.  Early results with Berkley 100% are good, and dare say better than some other "well known" lines.

I'm reverting back to using leader on braid for most of my spinning applications, and I like P-Line CFX Fluoro leader.

Original Stren mono.  The best fluoro is whatever kind is on someone else's gear.  I hate the stuff.

Bass Pro xps flouro, is the best I have used.
