If the clock is ticking away and the box is empty I tend to speed everything up.

I put the trolling motor on high and tie on a Big "O" crankbait of a Nicoles spinnerbait.

I'm looking for a reaction strike. If they fish aren't feeding you can still get a bite or two from bass that bite out of reaction or anger.

Chances are I've already slowed way down during the course of the day and worked ever piece of cover I could find.

In my experiance most people will slow way down with a jig or tube and that my work for some. But speeding up ,way up, workers more often than not when I encounter a tough bite.

JIG'n chunk or CRAW Texas rigged. Rage Tails are best design going bass can't leave 'em alone.

I voted for crankbait because i love to fish them.

but i definitly get more bass on soft plastics.

I was introduced to the Texas Rig back in 1972 while the equipment has changed the technique is still the same. The Texas Rig was originally designed to fish a plastic worm but today it is used with any type of soft plastic.

The Texas Rig

1) Make a long cast

2) Strip 3 or 4 arms length of line, this will assure a vertical fall

3) Count the bait down, 15' of water count to 20 to make certain the bait is on the bottom, do it in your head if need be

4) Pause a good 30 seconds after the bait reaches bottom

5) Lower your rod to the 3 o'clock position while reeling slack & feel for anything unusual

6) Move the rod from 3 o'clock to 1 o'clock in three motions

7) Pause 30 seconds & feel for anything unusual

8) Repeat 5, 6, & 7 all the way back to the boat

9) If at any time you feel a noticeable tap, tug, line tighten, heaviness, or see line movement.

10) Without hesitation drop the rod, reel the slack, and set the hook

I love throwing buzzbaits. My favorite way to fish them is casting them around extra shallow vegitation, and burning them as soon as they hit  the water. This often provokes vicious reaction strikes from bass using the cover as an ambush point.

I personally don't have a favorite. But I do have some lures that I turn to in certain situations.

Most of the time I throw the following:

1.) Top water frogs, poppers, etc.

2.) Zoom finesse worms (wacky)

3.) YUM Dingers and Tiki Sticks (wacky)

4.) Starting to enjoy throwing jigs (fav colors include peanut butter, jelly, brown, black/red) with my homemade jig trailer

5.) I use to throw nothing but spinner-baits but now I only throw them in the spring or late summer (fav colors are Shad patterns (black and white, white, charteruse, and green/white)

6.) Jerkbaits and some cranks

7.) and most of the time I texas rig grubs

I've always gone to a jerkbait when I'm having a tough day and can usually get something to bite.  It's versatile and keeps me busy.

Going to really focus on fishing a jig this season, hopefully I'll have a new favorite next year  ;)

Whenever the bite is tough, which is usually all the time around here, I always go to one of my homemade finesse jigs...

This one happened to be my most productive this year, its tied on a 1/4oz Owner Jakobs Jighead with PB&J skirt strands and I usually add a GYCB DT grub as a trailer...

I really like fishing cranks, though I catch more fish on other lures.  I love Rapalas.  All sorts of Rapalas.  I really love X-raps.  Great baits.  Can't wait to try a handful of new X-Rap Shads I picked up.

I use to be one that used crankbaits 70-80% of the time but softplastic just catches more fish for me.

If I had to pick one that is the most fun to catch a fish on, I would have to go with a buzzbait.

After i voted I would probly change my vote and say confidence might be the best lure bc when u have confidence in a lure you are going to be more pateint and stick with the lure. But I would say out of actual lures a spinnerbait would be my favorite and that is bc i have confidence[/u] in it. I love how you can cover alot of water and really power fish with it.

I think spinnerbaits and crankbaits are the most versitile baits out there.
