I am looking for a new high end reel for texas rigging and flipping/pitching. I looked at a Steez at BPS and I also like the Shimano Core. Which reel is a better all around reel, because for the price I'm sure I will be using it for more than flipping at pitching plastics?

I have the core 51mg7 and love it.  If I was you I would PM Steezy as he has both and he could give you a better comparison.

I fish almost everyday with the Steez and Core in both 7.x and 6.x ratios. The Steez is a tight, solid and smooth as silk reel and is the smallest. The new Core 50 is a bit loose (some handle backplay), feels as durable as a tank and for me it casts a bit farther than the Steez.

I like the Steez better for slow finesse fishing of plastic worms (texas rigged and/or filpping/pitching) and other lightweight creatures. The Steez smooth operation and light weight makes it comfortable and easy to hold for a long time, especially if its mounted on a Steez rod.

The Core 50 is a great reel and much improved over the Core 100. I like it for Spinners, Cranks and Frogs. The small size makes it comfortable in your hand but it still has the durable feel like the previous Core 100 (and other Shimano reels), its as tough as a tank.

The price difference is substanial, Steez = $479, Core 50 = $369 but in the end I think that are both great reels, however, if I could only choose one for all purpose, it would be the Core 50 (mounted on a G. Loomis GLX rod).

In fact, the first time I picked it up in Green Top, the lightness surprised me and I audibly exclaimed "whoa" and the salesperson said "I know, it feels like a toy, doesn't it?" I'm sure it performs outstanding and I think it's a beautiful little reel but tank is not the description I would use.

Can you buy a different spool for the Core 50MG? I'm leaning towards the Shimano. Has anybody had any experience with the Core 100MGFV? Could it be used for more than flipping/pitching?

Actually, you can buy a different spool.   Avail makes spools for the Aldebaran, which also fit the new Core MG50.

Regarding the reference to "tank", I was referring more to how durable it felt, nothing to do with size or weight.

I've got mine spooled with 14lb Fluroclear and I have plenty of reserve.  

I've owned each of the Steez models and used them quite a bit. My favorite of the bunch by far was the 100SHA model. It is a fine piece of machinery without a doubt. Sexy, refined, smooth, etc. but I did get rid of that reel in favor of another Aldebaran MG7 (JDM Core 50) as I prefer the feel and overall performance of the Aldebaran MG7 over the Steez reels. I am by no means a "shimano guy" or a "daiwa guy" but love both their products and use both regularly. The great thing about both companies producing such phenomonal products is that we have lots of great choices out there and as long as no one is paying me to use one over the other (which they're not ;D), I'm going to continue to use use what I like!

It's opposite of that, I was kidding about the lack of line capacity on the core50...

I use #14-#20 XT which as you know is quite large in Dia. I can almost cast them dry with a fresh fill up, which is no good. But more importantly, since we are fishing flooded mesquite fields, we have to cut and retie constantly. And in the case of the Core 100, and Ch50MG I have to respool at lunch time- which is a bit ridiculous.

I had to replace the spools on the Core 100 and CH50Mg, just to get enough line to make it through a day on the water. :-/

I don't have a core so I cant say as to how that reel compares, but I do have a steez. If you think about it a steez is a lighter version of a zillion, the core is a lighter version of a curado. So if you have to come to a decision you should choose the braking system you are more comfortable with, the shimano has a six pin, and the daiwa has magnetic. You cant go wrong with either.
