I am looking to get a new baitcaster and am not sure what one i really want. I currently have a Rick Clunn and it works pretty good but im looking for better. The reels I have been looking at in my price range are  Bass Pro Shops® Johnny Morris® Signature Series Baitcast Reel the Shimano® Citica® E Low-Profile Baitcast Reels and Abu Garcia® Revo S Low-Profile Baitcast Reel. I am kinda leaning toward the revo. I am looking for something that casts great and has good durability. Some of the reviews on the revo says it casts light baits really well to so that's a plus. Let me know what you guys think since im not really a expert on baitcasters and could use some advice on what to get.

I only have experience with my two Abu's so I can't speak on the other brands.  I have a Revo SX that I love.  A friend of mine has Shimano's and he swears by them.  I dont think you can go wrong with the Abu or Shimano.

The recommendations will boil down to "preference".

I "prefer" Shimano.  So, the Citica 200E would be my

choice.

the citica 200E is a great all purpose reel, but if you have enough money opt for the curado E

i got 2 johnny morris rod and reels

one is gold series and one is signature reels

buy signature reel they are good reel for thier price and they last longer than pro qualifers buy that

i am an all out shimano man but i never liked the citica to much compared to the cores and curados which is all i use. but i won a revo s and im actually impressed with it! its def smoother than the citica

You can never go wrong with a Shimano casting reel, but the Abu Garcia REVO line is worth checking into.  Smooth but the real topper is the power!  Rock-solid drag systems for absolute horsing power!  For the money, the REVO SX is pretty tough to beat.

Every Revo S I've had has been junk, had 2 of them, they weren't very smooth, felt tight, not tge good tight but almost a grinding feeling, they also didn't cast as far as similar reels I had, Quantum Code and Pflueger Asaro.  The SX, however, was one of the smoothest reels I have ever felt.  I would say try for a Curado, common to find for $150, other than that, I would say either a Citica or a JM.

Though it gets very little use, I own a Shimano Citica and like it much (like the Curado better).

Revo makes a fine drag system, but I personally prefer centrifugal brakes to magnetic brakes.

My only beef is max drag: Revo 22 lbs / Citica 10 lbs

I have both. No qualms with the Revo S, but the Citica is smoother, lighter, and just plain sweeter!

I fish the Curado 300E in Saltwater almost weekly. My fishing partner and my Father-in-law also fish these reels in saltwater regularly. They stand up to beatings and stay very smooth and reliable. Now, that being said we do alot more maintenance on them after being in the saltwater than if we were using them in fresh. I believe out of the last 5 years and the 7 reels between all of us only 2 have gone 2 back to the factory for service......Can't go wrong with Shimano's warranties either.

Well I think I am going to have to just get a Curado 200E7. I have not really heard anything bad about it and seems like one of the best reels. I would like to get the 300E but it's already going to cost more then I intended. I look at reels and think well if i spend 30 more I can get this... then if i spend another 30 i can get this one. It's a never ending cycle.

Unless you're tossing huge swimbaits or something similar, the 300 is overkill. The 200E will handle pretty much anything you're likely to encounter while bass fishing.

300E??? This IS a bass fishing site, isn't it?  ;D

300E is a monster of a reel which holds 240-yards of 12lb line. It'd be good for tossing huge Swimbaits for Bass, and that would be it. Also a great inshore reel and a good Salmon, Pike, or Musky reel.

I have the Johnny Morris Gold Series and the Revo SX. I love both of them. I'd choose whichever one you liked more. They're both solid reels.

I know a few guys who use the Curado 300E for carolina rigs...  I use mine for swimbaits or musky fishing.

I'd go with the Citica or a Curado.  Good luck!
