Copoly?????

Featured Replies

What is the knock on copoly lines.  I love P-Line CXX.  It is more abrasion resistant than floro, less stretch than mono.  Why dont more people use this for more applications?

What knock?  Plenty of people use copolymer lines.  Many probably don't even realize it.

The way Road warrior has spoken about yozuri, i had to give it a try. That has been the only line( besides 100% fluorocarbon for special applications) that i use.

Me also.  However,  I use braid too. I have a 1,000 yrd. spool of 12# that I got for cheap. I know diameter is prob. a better way to size line, but that stuff has a crazy break strength.

With all the recommends re: fluro ect. I now only use 2 types of line. Yozuri and samuri braid.

I find the Yozuri Ultrasoft works on both spinning, and baitcasters real well.

I have a spool of 12# P-Line that I've had for about 3 yrs now that I've been thinking of trying.

Quick question...Does Co Poly float like braid and mono or sink like floro?

What type of fishing do you use it for?

Thanks

Mike

I like it for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, topwater, and some light T-rigs.  I think it floats, but Im not positive.  P-Line CXX is almost impossible to break!!

I tried hi seas black widdow copoly before (alternating black/red). Worked great and I think it floated. The only reason I quit using it was because it was super slick and it backlashed like crazy. Its great on spinning great though (other brands might not be as slick though). The black/red looked awesome if nothing else :D

Why does slick-line backlash more?

I think a lot of people refer to copoly lines within the mono category because it's not FC or braid so it has to be mono.  Personally I really like copoly lines, I use either CXX, CX, Floroclear, and sometimes Yo-Zuri Hybrid.

CXX is just great. either on a BC reel , as a leader or on a large arbor spinning reel.

I think that nobody is knocking anything, like lures line is a tool, so far the "perfect line" hasn 't been created, all line types have their pro 's and con 's; let 's take for example braid, near zero stretch, thin diameter vs incredible strength, good abrassion resistance, near zero memory but you go and fish with it on rocks and it 's good bye, also has a very high friction coeficient, so it has it 's negatives and positives, it 's a matter of choosing the pros for a particular situation/condition and biting your tongue with the cons for that particular situation/condition.

Talking about CXX, over than 12 lbs it manages like crap, has more memory than a pack of elephants, coils like a friggin slinky ahhh but you can uproot stumps with it and ..... well, it 's great for fishing flooded timber/brush and rocks, that particular quality in such situation overweights the poor manageability, terrible coiling n 'such. So for fishing that type of condition it 's a better tool than let 's say nylon.

;D ;D ;D ;D

that about sums it up for cxx.

I don't have issues with CXX up to 25#, using KVD Line & Lure Conditioner.

Why does slick-line backlash more?

I think it doesn't "grab" the spool and that makes it backlash. Maybe if I got it on the spool more tight, it wouldn't have been as bad.

Oh okay, I got you know.

Nate, soak the spool in warm water before spooling.

That is quite possibly the best quote i have heard on BR...Thanks Raul!!

Try both P-Line CXX and Yo-Zuri Hybrid to see which you like.

Neither costs much, so you really have nothing to lose by testing

them both yourself. Compare both brand"s #6 on spinning tackle;

#12 on baitcasting. Appply KVD Line & Lure Conditioning while

spooling.

8-)

Pline CX and Florclear is all i use.. I find CXX to unmanageable just falls off the spool.. CX is some of the best casting line out there.. only downfall is sometimes knot strength can be weak.

LOL I also had a negative experience with it. :D

i just got some yo zuri hybrid and i love it i cant believe i always looked at it and siad now why would you need that

Thanks! Maybe I'll give it a try again...
