For those of you who use braid, do you use it on all of your rods or just some? Which do you use braid on? Why or not?

Only on some. I really only use it for bottom contact lures (t-rigs,jigs, etc), where sensitivity is a MUST.

However everything else besides topwater is Flouro, and top is mono.

I use braid on one of my jig rods, on my topwater frog rod, and as a main line on my Carolina rig setup (flouro leader). All other setups have either flouro or hybrid, and one has mono.

Normally I've got braid on all but my cranking rod.  Right now I've been experimenting a bit with Yo-Zuri Hybrid on a pair of rods.  I've been a big fan of braid with a leader of some type for most lures.

Except i leave enough room on top of the braid incase i want to put on a top shot of 15 to 20 yrds of mono...

And all my leaders of flouro are 7ft or less.

I have it on over half my reels.  I'm starting to get addicted to it though.  No memory,  no stretch,  strength,  and sensitivy.  I even started using it on my crankbait rod at the end of the season.  It took me a little while to get used to the no stretch aspect.  You have to keep it in mind when setting the hook.

I really can't think of a fishing situation in which kinky, coily, stretchy monofilament would be better than braid.

The only thing I use mono for is for my leaders. Sometimes just plain old mono. Sometimes fluorocarbon. Less visible to the fish (for whatever it matters... not usually much) and more abrasion resistant over rocks, or fish teeth. But other than that, mono is pretty much worthless to me.

This spring all of my rigs from my ultra lite to my baitcaster will all be braid. I started with braid on one spinning rig two years ago and it will be taking over on all of them. Sufix all of the way.

The only mono I will have will be for backing and leaders.

Braid: Frogs, flipping/pitching grass, wood or docks, skipping docks with spinning tackle, topwaters over thick weeds, ripping cranks and spinnerbaits through weeds.

Fluorocarbon: Dropshotting, deep cranking, any where rocks are involved, extreamly clear water situations, extreamly deep water situations, C-rig leaders, general all around cranking, and jerkbaits.

Mono: Backing, big topwaters, panfishing, and ice fishing.

    Only on some, meaning my punch rods and frog rods(sometimes for spooks). Everything else id fluorocarbon or mono. I prefer to use a line that is less visible and a better sink rate.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have been trying braid on one of my spinning rods and one of my bait casters.  I have been using Power Pro 15lb and I like it so far.   

I don't have a lot of rods, and use each of them for a wide variety of baits and techniques. I usually fish in a farm pond and a local river and it's various backwater bodies. I have caught LM and SM bass, crappie, walleye, northern, bluegill, and even a few catfish (by chance) in these waters.

That being said, is there any reason why I should stick to mono? Also, in these waters would I even need a leader?

Braid (PP) on all my reels baitcasters,underspin,spincast,spinning. Had used braid for a few years then had a bad idea to try Trilene XL again on a spinning reel (stradic). Nothing but coiling and line twist. I put braid back on a week later.

I use braid on everything except outfits I use on party boats, mates frown on braid and just cut your line when they get tangled with other lines that happens all the time.

Can you get line twist with braid.............you bet you can, I just tossed a spool of braid out due to trolling with a spoon.  I did put some swivels on my spoons for my next outing, see how that will go, but on a few other braided rods trolling with a spoon caused no issue.

I recently spooled up with Fins braid, so far I like it.

I use it for frogs of both kinds. I also use it as my back up pitching rod in nasty stuff. The other set up I use it on is my shacky and wacky rigs. I use a leader with them but I perfer the way braid handles on spinning gear.

I use braid on all of my spinning rigs except the UL setup I use for bream, and fluoro on my lipless crank/spinnerbait rod.

I use braid on everyone of my setups.

I will have normally 20-25 setups on the boat when fishing a tourney or really hitting the lake hard...

Say I have 25 setups with me it will be 2-3 with Mono, 2-3 with Sunline shooter and the rest will be Daiwa Braid or Daiwa braid and FC leader.

I will use Mono on Top water rods and sometimes on a Shallow crank bait rod but thats it.

Braid+FC leader is the norm for me on most setups.

I hate mono on any app that needs long casts. that goes for cheap FC to. It feels like im fishing with a long rubber band so I stay away from it for the most part. I also wont touch mono unless its 17# or higher because the stretch issue.

You've stated that you fish on a river system and it's tributaries a lot and I am the same way.  This last year I used braid on the river and noticed that it is a lot harder to keep bottom contact, due to the braids floating capabilities.  The current carries it too fast and your out of the strike zone within seconds.  My fishin' buddy will make fun of me for saying this, but on the river I feel flouro is a little better(for jigs and t-rigged plastics anyway.)  However there is now a braid coming out that sinks.  I'm going to spool up with it next year and see if I like it, cause I do love how braid feels in no current situations.  That and you can't beat braids sensitivity and strength to size.

I use PP on all of my rigs except one.  That is my Medium Light rod that I use for cranks, jerks, and topwaters.  However I may change that soon.

Braid is on all my rods, both bait casting and spinning.  Unless I'm fishing in salad I always use a seven foot flouro leader.  It allows plenty of line to retie as needed.
