I have $500 for new rods and don't know what my best buy would be. I need 2 spinning rods and 2 casting rods.

I am using the casting rods for everything from lipless crank baits to spinner baits to regular crank baits.

The spinning rods will be used for senkos, gitzits and jerk baits.

I know there are a TON of choices out there, but I'm not exactly a pro and can't decide what the best option would be.

Any suggestions?

I'd take a look at the Vertias by Abu Garcia......

Look at the Falcon Bucco's, very nice rods in that price range.

From my personal experiences, I beleive I would look at either the Carrot Stix Wild or BPS Pro Qualifier for $100 rods.  The Powell Max may run you a little over with 4 but if that's ok....do it, they are great rods for the price.  Now if it were me, I'd drop a spinning rod and go either 3 Dobyns Savvys or 3 Pinnacle Perfectas.  I throw most senkos, jerkbaits, and tubes on M casting gear and use a spinning rod for shakey heads and drop-shots.

I have a slightly different opinion.  Instead of getting 4 mid range rods, I would get 2 higher end rods and get the other two rods next year (or when you get another $500 to spend on rods).  I had a whole slew of rods that over time I replaced.  If I would have just been patient and slowly purchased the line-up I have now, I would have saved a lot of money in the meantime.  Again, this is just my opinion and this is nothing against all the rod brands mentioned.

I agree with KYntucky Warmouth as far as the 3 casting and 1 spinning rod option, and also with Lucky Craft Man as far as ending up with higher quality rods down the road. My personal 4 rod combo would be St Croix rods in the Legend Tournament series. The Sweeper, 7' MHF, Teaser, 7'MF and the 7'MM for cranks. My spinning rod choice would be the 6'9'' MLXF dropshot rod. St Croix offers the trade up program where you can trade rods up to a higher quality line and get full retail, minus 10 dollars a year, towards the new rod. This would allow you to start with the Premier line and upgrade down the road, or maybe the Legend Tournament Teaser and 3 Premiers. Like you said, lots of options, and so this is just my 2 cents. Thats good advice. One spinning rod, a 7'M fast action fenwick handles all my bass and occasional crappie needs. My style of fishing requires more BC setups.

You can buy 20 Ugly Sticks and still have some left over for beer and pizza...just sayin'

I must sound like a broken record but..... For the stuff you wanted to do with them, buy 3. Dobyns Savvy 693 Spinning, Dobyns Savvy 703 casting, Dobyns Savvy 704 casting and then go to Bass Pro or something and buy a $50 crank rod. Done. You should be able to fish everything you would ever want to reasonably effectively

These aren't overly expensive but I love my Diawa Procaster, very nice reel.

If you are going to wait a little bit, and buy some higher end rods. I would suggest looking at the flea market here. You might be able to pick up a higher end rod for the price of a mid-low end rod.
