I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

On the Big Pond?

Yes sir, I found a bunch of ducks! I enjoy hunting and fishing, my wife likes eating both! I just got permission to get me a duck boat

The number of ducks on the lake shock many people but what amazes me is the lack of hunters.

I've never even seen a duck hunter on the lake. Always see ducks though. Shaneus, if you really wanna see some ducks, holler at me one day and I take you out on catahoula lake. We kill a 300-500 a year out there and see millions. It's one of, if not the best duck lakes in America.

I know the next time I go to the lake my shotgun will be in the boat hope to get good limits

There was a boat full of brush to touch up some blinds launching Saturday when I was picking up.  Looks like it was a good decision to drain the water lines before I left.  Guess I'll wait for the warm weekends from here on.

Hey B Fanatic, great job on the tourney up in Ark. Y'all did good man!

Thanks man! We had a blast. When we first got on Bull Shoals my buddy threw a quarter in the water and we counted it down over 13 seconds. Only reason we lost site of it was because it darted under the boat LOL!!! It's a completely different world up there. Had to learn to adjust to changing weather conditions and ultra clear water and NO GRASS! We were a little over a pound from winning it, had a few fish on that would have won it for us, but couldn't execute. Dropped a 4 first morning on Crown Lake on a 78 pointer. That fish hurt bad. Them Basscat boys really took care of us though. All expenses paid and got a little check for 2nd place. When I first got there Rick Pierce and Kevin Short already knew me by name. It was a blast hanging out with those guys.

Bull Shoals is a blast to fish! Ain't been there in years! Beautiful lake!

Great job ;)

I have found that if you do not see the duck hunters and you get too close, they have a way of letting you know!

Would not want to be out there today! ;)

No problems Catt,,,The anchor should hold you just fine on the edge of the river channel so the 4 - 5 footers should not be a problem.

Been there, done that, ain't going back!

Thursday & Friday looking good if ya got a slicker suit!

Catt and others, on a note.  How is the fishing during the winter?  I'm talking on the days that get up into the 50's, 60's or even 70's between cold fronts.

I absolutely love winter fishing!

It's kinda like punching mats, you can go hours with out a bite, then load the box in the next hour.

Ya got to pay attention to weather patterns & be ready to go at the drop of a hat.

Don't be fooled into thinking they want be shallow or they want chase a spinner bait or trap!

Yep, winter fishing can be great!  You have the whole lake to yourself.  And winter is a great time to catch a big sack too.  Punching and reaction type baits seem to work best for me.

Lures

Jigs

1. I want a big bulky skirt on a grass jig, I'll often change the skirt; I shorten my trailer to where the claws are just past the shirt.

2. A 1/4 oz Bitsy Bug Flip, it's a small profile with a quality hook; my trailer is a Zoom Squrmin Chunk.

3. Rage Tail Lobster or Gene Larew Salty Hawg Craw; Texas Rigged

4. Stanley Wedge Double Gold Willowleaf White Skirt

5. 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap Gold Black Back Orange Belly, Toledo Gold, or Chorme Red

As always, great info.  Think I will get off the deer stand and sneak up there on the warmer weekends this year.  Thanks Guys!!

Did anyone read the article in the Louisiana Sportsman about a Many,La angler with 40.45# out of Six Mile. That is CRAZY....
