Featured Replies

Numbers were real good bit size was shabby. Caught some on everything. Really. Still trying to learn areas. Finally went to the back of Sandy. I could live in a Cypress tree there. Beautiful place!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Good to hear on the numbers.  I decided to skip this weekend,,,again.  Could not sneak away for Friday and Saturday looks very wet.  Should be good fishing before the front.  Maybe next weekend.

It was wet for awhile this mornin' then turned hot and sunny. Had to switch baits on several rods. Tomorrow probably have to switch back. As long as it ain't lightinging I'll be after em. Wish you could have made it. Now, the only thing that concerns me is finding a place to watch the LSU Bama game. I don't have local channels ( CBS ). Any suggestions? Maybe Fin and Feathers will play it?

The Mexican restaurant next to toledo tackle had t/v'S and play lsu games BUT IT CLOSED and it's a bar and grill, my still have them.I haven't been in there yet.

Thanks Bullet.

Did anyone do any good in the rain this past weekend? I still have a week offshore, but plan to get back up there soon after I get in. My last trip up, 2 weekends ago, I spent about 7 hours fishing in the rain. Caught 15-20 with a bunch being 12-14 inches, flukes worked on top like a spook, chug bugs, & yellow magic. I also spent a few hours in my little cove and caught 17, most on a small squarbill and a few on a one knocker rattle trap like bait. The biggest was a 3.5 on the YM and a 3 on the square bill. My buddy had a 6+ come off a chug bug just before getting it to the boat. A few fish were also caught on a red bug straight tail worm.

I didn't get to go, I'm in the process of buying a new boat. Hoping to drive to MO in a week or two to pick it up!

Staying with a Basscat. Found one in MO with 25 hrs, two poles, onix 10's for a good price. Hoping to go get it soon!

Hey guys its been a while! Guess my lack of posting is because I haven't been fishing...Guy at work had knee replacement surgery and I've been working almost every one of my days off.....Now , come to find out another guy I work with has prostate cancer, so there is no end in sight to the end of overtime.... There is only 4 of us that work shift and cover the plant 24/7 so when one is missing its hard to find time off....good luck guys....tight lines

shaneus great to hear from ya! ;)

I aint been to the Big Pond in a month!

Went out today(technically yesterday) around 3 and fished housen for a few hours. Schools of shad everywhere. Ended up catching only 8 on spinnerbait and jigs. Surrounded by schools of baitfish the entire time and was still a tough bite. Tried cranks, flukes and traps with no sucess. Finished the evening off with this beauty on a jig in 3ft of water right before dark.

That's a nice hawg ;)

Well i went out again this morning hoping to get on a good topwater bite. Got out to the same spot around 5. The wind was blowing harder than expected. Looked to be clear skies but once first light came, so did the clouds and fog. Couldn't find any shad or signs of life. Fished til 8:30 and called it quits. Only got 2 fish this morning and had to work for those. With so many shad around the evening before I was certain it would be on fire today. I guess conditions and the bite changes daily. I should've stayed at the house but ya never know when ya gonna get bit!

Very nice fish. That place can be scary when the fog sets in.

Bass could be on an evening bite ;)

Maybe so. First time being on housen in a while. The usual spot I fish on the very south end by la islands has produced a 5lb or better last few trips but the numbers were fairly low for this time of year. All at first light. Wanted to see if another spot would be more productive. Man I need some new places to fish! Lol

But all in due time I guess.

Nice fish Flex! Congrats

The Bite Moves...Not The Fish!

I look at like this; after location is timing; just because you didn't get bit does not mean the bass aren't there or you tied on the wrong lure. The key is being on the water enough to understand, are the bass on a morning bite, mid-day bite, or evening bite.

Fished yesterday from 8-5. Caught right at 50, biggest being 8lbs. We caught em good until 10, then didn't get back on em until 2. We fished the bank for an hour without a bite, then went back offshore and started catching.
