Had 30lbs today and my dad had 14lbs in our club tournament. Our best 5 combined was 33lbs. I had 3 fish between 7- 10lbs jump off. My big fish i caught was 9.5lbs.  Lots of tournaments coming up, but

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Well, had a much better afternoon today. The north wind decided to lighten up to only about 5-10 after 4pm. Me and my youngest son caught 15 or so in Lanan fishing the points and an occasional dock. Lots of Kentucky bass mixed in. My eldest son and his buddy fished just south of Pendelton Bridge and caught over 20 with the biggest being 6.8lbs. Not bad for post-frontal fishing. My eldest said they found the fish stacked up in the back of a creek fed cove. He said there were lots of big schools of shad moving back into shallower water. Caught most on watermelon red brush hogs. If the winds not howling in the morning we're gonna head back out. If we do, I'll post a report. Wanna thank you guys for keeping this very informative discussion going actively for so long. Very good information to be found in these 300+ pages!

No body fished today?

Going Tuesday, any body!

Fished Saturday and Sunday morning and caught good numbers but lots of small fish. Fished flats in 3 - 6 foot of water for the most part with traps and spinnerbaits. Did catch my new personal best yesterday that went 7.69 on my digital scale. Great day on the water for sure but man that ole girl was rough yesterday morning. Fished mid lake Palo Gaucho and Lowes creek. Would post pic but I'm not sure how to do it.

Caught 30 with 17 keepers & the top 5 was only about 18#.

All but one came on Texas Rig, black blue tail accounted for 90%.

Excellent report Catt. Bet them kids had a blast. The weather looks perfect for the next week. Just my luck, we had to fish during a winter blast! Keep the reports coming!

Any reports from Indian Mounds?

The Mounds have been quite as of late ;)

Gotcha, I'm heading down in the morning. Trying to decide where I wanna start. I think I'm gonna try La Nana early and move to Spring Hill. This will be my first trip to the bend since I got my HDS Gen 3 so I'm pretty excited.

Congrats on a great day, Mr. Tommy. I had a great day today. Caught over 20. ALL day. Biggest was only three pounds but several 2 pounders. Rest were smaller ;) Caught some on a worm. One on a crankbait. Then put it in overdrive to learn some new areas and caught most on the ole spinnerbug!

Fishd mid lake 4 ft to 15 ft ridges caught 2 on a worm tried frogs in pads and chatter baits nothing at all. Went from front of creeks to back nothing there also. What depth and structure u catch them in

I think y'all are placing to much emphasize on finding grass!

I caught as many fish off wood as grass, look at structure & find wood or brush...the fish are there.

Who's going this weekend? How bad do yall think the traffic is gonna be with the Toyota owners tournament and also Bass Cat regional owners tournament going on? I'm heading out this afternoon and staying until Monday afternoon. Might have to go try Big Sam if its to hectic. Never been to Rayburn before though. Where is the best place to put in if I'm coming from Hemphill? Any tips for Big Sam?

This is Catt's ambitious thread, but allow me to reiterate his point.

Tom is a bottom-up angler (such as myself) who looks first for 'structure', THEN for 'cover'  :wink7:

Roger

Today was a lot tougher on me. The bite was off not near as much activity going on as usual. I would have figured it would have been on before this little front. Oh well I'll get em next week. Good luck to all.

Exactly Roger

Even with grass the anglers who are consistent fish the structure, the grass is a bonus!

What I saw tuesday was guys fishing up against the bank because they have to visible see the grass in order to fish. Well the grass aint matted every where like it has been for the last 30 years.

Just back from fishing the bass cat owners tournament. Weather change definitely affected the bite. Guys that were catching a lot of fish deep Thursday and Friday struggled. Most of the fish caught was shallow. One guy said he caught his in about six inches of water, she weighed 8 pounds even. We ended up mid lake catching fish in about a foot of water.
