Well, the weatherman was wrong again Friday.  It was no rain in the forecast and a high of 56.  It never got above 43 and sleeted on us for an hour.  We called it quits before noon because my clients didn’t have their rain slickers.  Ended up with 29 around Six Mile on drop shots and Arigs in 26’.

It's a sabine parish thing. If they say heavy rain or snow. We dont get nothing.

If they say 10% chance of rain. You better tie the boat to the porch cause brother it's going to flood.

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

I think they still piping in sunlight to that place lmao.

At 52 they should still be starting to stage up. Don't know the pond very well... just a guess.

Gentlemen,

I've been following this thread for several years now. Headed out to TB from Houston for some fun fishin' this week. Probably start in La Nana. What's the report?

Water is low, watch where you are driving. Fish are bitting, friend of mine found some in creek channels leading into a cove in 14 foot of water.

Weather is forecasted to turn bad cold and lots of rain sometime this week is what I was told last night.

Good luck.

Super fat with eggs but she was maybe 10 inches long.

Nice man....that sucker was shallow. Could that be a small male fat on shad or did you see some eggs dripping? ?

That bed is normally in 3 to 4 foot of water. The lake is low.

No it was a female, with eggs. No shad up in this lil ditch at the moment. She wasn't there this morning, I checked that spot.

That's awesome you know where the bed's are. She moved up when it warmed up some. Good sign some are on beds already. That theory the water has to be 60 degrees is a myth. You just proved it. The last time I was there was there it was 7ft low. Learned a lot about the lake then. I'm coming up next week for a BASS tournament. Gonna be chilly. Personally I like the lake when it's low.

And sometimes you dont need a boat lol.

Went took a look at that bed I caught the female off of. Seen there was a small male on it now.

So went got my chatterbait and bam got him.

Then went up to the house and got my phone came back and got these 2 in back to back cast in 1 1/2 foot of water on a small man made ridge next to my neighbors dock.

If it wouldnt be for the incoming bad and cold weather, they would be starting a run I'm sure.

1/4 onze white and silver sparkle zman with a twin tail chartreuse with silver flake trailer l, slow rolling it and they are smashing it.

So I changed baits to a smoke shad colored 4 inch and flash spinner hook and picked up the female those 2 males were guarding.

She straight smashed that swimbait.

I feel bad I haven’t been one time. I’ve been to busy catch 20 inch trout.

Fished Tuesday and half a day Wednesday in San Miguel. Tuesday I caught 15 with 5 that would’ve been keepers. Nothing over 3 lbs. Majority in chatterbait, a few on a crawfish yozuri rattling vibe, and a couple on senior like bait. Wednesday I had 10 with 5 would be keepers with 2 of them close to 4 lbs. All of these on chatterbaits. Temps were up to 57 degrees.

Last time it was covered with trees, think I'll take a little snow!

Definitely gonna put a pause in fishing ?

Yea it's going to shut them down for a good week or 2.

Weather app is showing bitter cold temps for almost the rest of the week.
