Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Ive seen them 150, I thought. The mount is only 35 I think. I might just mount it on console where it can swing toward the bow.

Ram Mounts are the best I use one in the same way.

My problem is where to mount it for dual use.

The right side of my console is straight nothing horizontal to mount to...

Thinking that a vertical mount on the side. Might interfer with docking.

Just my two cents, but I wouldn't do it.  Even if you find a good place to mount it you're not going to want to be swinging your head around towards your console to look at the graph every few seconds.  I know that from experience.  You're also going to get pretty sick of moving the unit all the time when you're on the water.  Why not wait just a little bit and get a second unit for the bow that is just a 2d sonar with gps.  Something like a 597ci HD combo or 788ci combo for sale.  That's the one that I put on my bow on my last boat.  IMO, it's worth it for the convenience.  You don't get SI or DI at the bow, but at least you can share waypoints (with interlink or just an sd card) between units and see what's underneath you.

What's the difference between the interlink and joining them with a Ethernet cable?

Ive seen one of those. I think they are geared more toward the gimbal mount like 800-1100 series

Hey fluke, since you brought it up what's the difference between the interlink and joining them with a Ethernet cable?

Humminbird just started supporting Ethernet networking on their units.  If you buy two newer units that are at least a 700 series or higher, you'll be able to network them together with a single Ethernet cable (plus an adapter or two for 700 series units).  Of course, the cable will have proprietary Humminbird connectors (ends), which forces you to buy the expensive Humminbird cable rather than buying a regular ethernet cable for $5.  Lowrance has had this for all their HDS units for awhile and Humminbird is just starting to catch up in this regard.

Prior to this (and still applicable for sub-700 series units), the only way to connect multiple Humminbirds together was/is through the InterLink module.  This is a ridiculously priced ($200) router that allows Humminbirds to talk to one another.  On top of buying the box, you have to buy additional cables to connect it all together.  Kind of ridiculous that they make you pay more to get networking for the more budget-conscious units.

I had a 597ci DI at the console and a 788ci Combo at the bow.  I just wanted to be able to share waypoints from one to the other, so I just bought an SD card that I would keep in the console unit.  Anytime I marked a waypoint at the console, I would export that waypoint to my card and take the card to the bow when I started to fish.  The import is really quick and easy, so I would then have the units in-sync from a waypoint perspective.  Kind of a poor man's way of doing it, but it was good enough for me.

I have networked HDS units now, and I love 'em.  It's great to be able to see both the trolling motor and transom sonar displays at the same time on the same unit as well as share waypoints seamlessly.

Hope that helps...

ditto

Anybody heading out today or tomorrow?  I'll probably be at wolf creek out somewhere tomorrow morning.

I tried to call them and buy one over the phone and pick it up Monday and they said no.

I ended up just buying one on eBay Humminbird 998 HD and I got it shipped for about $1109

I figured the tax and my gas was going to cost $1100 at Rogers and theirs were not HD.

I got both of my Ram mounts today and my new dash.... Things are starting to come together!

My 798 is sitting at the UPS hub in town waiting to deliver monday...DOH!!!!

For the few of you that haven't seen them, Cbass12 and I went to Melvern Wednesday for a little cast and blast. We got down there around 11 and fished until 2:30 before we went and set our decoys out and did some duck hunting. I started with a jigging spoon and I think it took two whole casts to catch a 17.5" 3 pounder.

I caught another one or two on the spoon before the Ned started to get bit pretty well. I caught a couple "dinks" (smallest fish we caught was 15" and 2.5 pounds) along with a couple more solid fish like this football with fins.

Right before we left we doubled and mine proved to be the biggest of the day at 17 3/4" and 3lbs 5ozs.

Wasn't fast fishing in any stretch of the imagination but I'll trade all the dinks I normally catch out there for the quality we were catching any day!

This isn't a bad deal if anyone wants a DI unit. $549 buy it now

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Humminbird-858c-Combo-GPS-Receiver-/360803986775?pt=GPS_Devices&hash=item540197ed57

I have a 858 listed on eBay but mines not DI or HD and it's $125 more :(

Well just saw I got a huge blister on a tire....

Started at Melvern. Threw a spoon, ned, spinnerbait. One white on the spoon. Marked a school of whites on the lowrance. Catch one and they leave. Cruised the dam lookin for shad and found the mother load. First cast hooked up.... huge shad. Shad left. Buddy is cold, so we decide to trailer to wolf creek.

Wolf Creek lots of boats. Nothing happening by the outlet. Head south. Water is in mid 40s. Knew I was in trouble. Had one slam a jerkbait and come off at the boat. Two other hookups on the tube... lost em both. Had to head back...skunked. Wish I would have fished north of outlet....

Cleaned the boat up... done for the year as a boater so the wife can have the garage back. See you all next spring (hopefully). Wife is due in April.

Hate to ask this, but is it spring yet?

Heard on the news tonight they're expecting a colder than average winter with above average amounts of snow. Yay! Global Warming!  :respect-059:

I got all of the tackle out of the boat, cleaned it up last night, etc. All that's left is taking the batteries out, and stabilizing the fuel.

Come on spring, get here. My fall season sucked this year! So, I'm needing a good spring to even things out.

I hope all my Kansas peeps are in a tree this morning. :)

I'm at home with a sick kid. ;(

Evidently no one has been fishing lately?  :Idontknow:

Don't blame you, I haven't been out either!! :winter-146:
