the bass are working wind blown banks with grass @ olathe. we hit a really strong pattern out there.

Like pbrussel said, we both fished LaCygne on Saturday. I caught a total of 8 fish. None if any size. I wasn't able to fish the discharge area since there were 4 boats anchored on the buoys and a bunch of bank fishermen.

I went to melvern on Sunday and the report is very similar. For the first time since fishing there, the dam was no good for me. Biggest fish was a 17" largemouth that was caught hopping a swim bait through brush. I did manage to snag a rather large gizzard shad with a jerkbait. I surely didn't expect that. It was bigger than some of the smallmouth I caught.

We'd throw up shallow and usually get bit before we got halfway back to the boat.  Very specific riprap bank that we found that held fish.  We didn't land any monsters (might have hooked into one or two), but we probably only caught 2 dinks all day.

 

There's a lot of good structure in that lake if you like that kind of stuff.  Road beds, points, islands, etc.  There's also usually some nice current that helps position some of the fish.  The plant is shut down right now for some issue, so that didn't come into play yesterday.  The water was 56 degrees.

I was at Melvern on Sunday with my father in law.  We tried fishing the dam in the morning but only caught 2 small smallmouth on it.  When we tried again later in the day the wind was blowing so bad it was hard to fish it. Our best area was the marina cove. We caught smallmouth, spots and whites on squarebills and some little spinner type bait with a white grub on it.  My father in law caught a really nice 15" spot that was really chunky.

I have no problem sharing information/spots with anyone on here, but it's kind of a you scratch my back I'll scratch your's deal. I'll share my spots, hot bites and baits, but when the person/s that I shared my information with comes across a hot bite, I'd like to get a heads up on it

I certainly classify as a lurker, however this 10x. When I do get time to go out my 2-3 fish grind is hardly anything to boast about.

I hear you Bluebasser86, in the end those guys won't be as successful fishermen (or people) as they would be if they knew what common courtesy was.

FWIW I'd post on here a heck of a lot more if I got more opportunities to fish the lakes around KC, but most of my weekends have been spent at LOZ helping family out (and trying to fill a freezer)

I worry about the catch and eat guys! A couple years ago the state lake was HOT!!!!!! Now it's dry.

No kidding, That lake used to be the best.  I work in insurance, and i drove out to paola to meet a new client once, he lived in an apt there. While we were doing paperwork I saw fishing poles in the corner so asked him about fishing.  He proceeded to show me "master angler awards"  that his son has achieved.  One was a 23 inch Largemouth from MI CO, caught on a live sunfish.  He told me it tasted great... I wanted to throw up. 

 

 

On a side note, I am thinking about a foot controlled transom mount trolling motor for my pond hopper.  I found one at cabelas, was wondering if anyone has used these and think it would be worth it.

any way fluke and I were at melvern when we caught all those smallies we went to wolf creek but they bleach your boat security check it and now theres a 100$ fee so we left.

Fished Olathe this morning before the rain and lightning started up. Wipers were chasing shad, and nothing I had to offer Saugeye weren't biting, but the bass sure were. I started a little slow until I figured out what they wanted, then it was on! Best fish of the day ate a tube, pitched to a brushpile and the line jumped while it was sinking, 18.5" and 3.46 pounds and mean!

Nope, Sure wasn't  I fish there alot though, its about the closest lake to my house.  Actually Lenexa Lake is close to, but i have never fished there.

Pretty awesome!  I used to have a 14' aluminum pond boat.  I would have loved to have a foot-controlled trolling motor but that was because I started fishing bigger lakes that had a lot of wind.  It's hard to hold your boat in place without a foot controlled trolling motor in the wind.  If you don't fish in lakes with a ton of wind, you probably don't need it.

 

I ended up selling my small boat and upgrading to a larger boat.  If you can do that, then save your money to get the boat that you want.

Back when I had my pond boat ( a 10' Water Buster, traded away in 2002), that a foot control trolling motor was available for my boat I would have had one.  Just saying. . . .
