Man, this was a depressing thread.  Hopefully, your lakes will continue to fill and folks will start to manage them appropriately.

I visited Kouris Dam last weekend and found that there are a lot of water and it is still coming. It is great for Bass. Now it very hard to find the place where to fish for Bass and it is good because fish collectors will not be able to get small basses.

I have question. When is bass spawning season in Cyprus?

I just heard they are trying to kill the largemouth bass in Cyprus due to one of the Cypriot snakes being endangered. Will this affect the fishing everywhere in the country? Yiasas.

There are really some horrible pictures in this thread - but nice to see that the water levels went back to normal again.

How is the fishing in December/January in your dams?

I am looking for a nice bass spot to hide away during the Christmas holidays...  :)

Cheers,

Albrecht

Hi Albrecht,

Bass fishing in December is difficult even in Cyprus. The problem is that boats are not allowed and bass are difficult to reach. I would suggest February.

Thank you for the replys!

Are (belly)boats forbidden in all your dams?

What town would be a good "base" for a bass-safari in cyprus?

Tight lines,

AL

Hello guys!

Am reading your forums for a long time now and it has been really helpful to me!!

Albrecht, I think the best town to stay is Limassol, cause you have Yermasogeia Dam right next to your door, Kouris Dam only 15 minutes car drive, and then if you go east, for about 30-45 minutes you have Kalavasos(the best dam ever) & Dipotamos and if you go west you will find Aspro dam & Evretou dam. you're in the middle :)

Yes, belly boats are forbidden in all dams!

Ofcourse, when ever you want to visit us, send a pm :)

My GF is Greek, didn't know Cyprus/Greece had bass fishing. May need to visit now with her.

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum, i have not long lived in Cyprus and im looking to get some advice from the local guys on here, i live in Akrounta which is the neighbouring village of Yermasogia dam, now i normally sea fish but living so close to the dam i cant not try it out, however i was just wondering do you know of any good sea fishing spots from the shore, such as Zygi Marina or the white rocks at Governers Beach, for either spinning or beach casting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi Guys

Great thread!

I havn't long been fishing in Cyprus or bass fishing as a whole i do have a fair bit of fishing experience but thats in sea fishing. Iv watched numerous youtube videos and read numerous articles on here and learnt a fair bit about bass fishing.

Iv been to Germasogia dam and Kalavasos dam. I started last summer and managed to catch 4 bass 3 on swimbaits and 1 on a popper. But there is one thing i cannot get my head round, where to fish ??? Certain parts of the dam are very hard to get to due to the steep banks, and as boats are not allowed on the dam i dont know whats in the water such as cover, sunken trees etc.

And help in regards to this aspect would be great as well as what works best for you ? jigs, plastics, crankbaits etc...

Looks like its going to be a good year with the dams overflowing there was a problem recently with the Telapia due to the changing temperatures they fished out 800kg of dead Telapia from a nicosia dam and when i whent to Germasogia there were around 15 dead in the space of 10 meters.

How soon will you start fishing i have been a few times recently but it still seems a little cold, i spotted a group of 3 bass fished every lure in my box over and around them for hours and not one wanted to take.

Thanks in advance

Hi T-Rig,

Fishing is great actually, see another video of me and Vyron for 2012. You are most welcomed to visit Cyprus. Just let me know when.
