I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

I know the tournament guys have been doing real well catching fish pushing 8lbs. No clue where they're fishing

The bass pro aquarium, location of your choice!

What's up Jeff!  It's Matt Dwyer.   We need to hook up and fish one day.

Two pounder night fishing. Can't get myself to fish anything other than a chatterbait for more than a couple casts.

Clinton Lake.

water 52 by the plant, 63 party cove.

Fish are midway back in the coves for the most part, or staging at the flats on the mouths of coves.  All fish have been really fat...

fast moving jerkbaits on the flats and spinnerbaits/jigs moving to structure/cover in the coves.

The bite is slowly turning on.  We only had two keepers on a tough day last weekend but they were both fat and white. 8lb 1oz fish was caught by a high schooler on a crankbait, think it was a 1.5 not certain. 17lbs took the tournament. Temps were getting to be 68 and some said they saw 70 in the hot arm.

Got 8 largies last Saturday on Long Lake in Long Lake, IL. Biggest was 17-1/2" smallest was 15-1/2" all in 5 hours of fishing on a custom made jig. Fishing was good, water temp was 56 degrees.

Allen my wife and I were fishing out of a boat.  It is a phenomenal fishery if you know what you are doing. We got our fish on jigs, but rattle traps will work as well. If you want more info PM me. We have a tourney there this weekend, so I will post some results on Monday.

Wow that's a nice mixed bag. I've never seen a  striper caught on Long lake, that is a first. "The Chain" has tons of them. Very nice.

Your tourney tomorrow? Guys out there today said it was slow. I didn't do any bass fishing, I was out with my dad today looking for table fare.

Well you definitely got some table fare for tonight. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. Someone in the tourney will do good I'm sure. I'll post results on Monday.

anyone have some seasonal explanation for why the same small residential pond that i caught 2 lbers with some regularity from in march, are now only producing super dinks < 1 lb? slow rolling 3/16, 1/4, or 3/8oz chatterbaits with small/med/larger trailers -- no difference over the past 2 weeks. it's weird. are the big ones taking a little nap before spawning or something?

My great spring continues.  Caught a 19.5" brute on a squarebill and a 20" bass on a creature bait at Whalen on Saturday.  Caught another small bass as well.  Talked to another angler and he said the bite was slow and he hadn't caught anything.  I'll take a slow day if the couple fish I catch are 4 lbers.

Got this nice female last night at my little pond

Oh I see. These guys are less than a pound. Must be like my precocious high school friends who were 'bedding' way before me :(

I asked him if he new a Allen Der and he said yes. I don't remember his name, but he knew you. Anyway good luck on Long this weekend.

Long Lake, IL fishing report 4-25-2016. Beautiful day out on the water on Sunday. Fishing was really slow. Spoke to several guys on the water during the tourney and only a couple of fish here and there. After the 8 hour tourney, weigh-in time. Winning weight was 10lbs  ? ounces (4 fish).  My wife got a 17-1/2" and 14.25" fish. I got one about 15-1/2" All of our fish were caught on jigs. Winning weight guys said they caught all their fish on chatterbaits. Water temp 58-60 degrees. Water clarity good.
