HBO

Well I have pretty much been in bed watching TV for the past 5 days, and I can't deal with HBO anymore. Seven channels, and nothing but either Ocean's Thirteen (on 4 times today, atleast a dozen times in the past 5 days), Footloose, Forrest Gump(on 3 times today), and Blood Diamond(twice). I did like most of these movies before having to see them on non-stop. There are tens of thousands of movies, why must they reply the same 3 or 4 movies non stop. For example, Sweeney Todd was just on HBO at 8, then HBO West from 11-1am, now it is on HBO again from 12-2. And if it isn't one of these same newer movies it is the same 1980's stuff over and over and over..... that's where Footloose comes in, and Top Gun, Die Hard, or Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

(Ok Team Depends, you may begin with the "Back in my day there were only 3 channels and they were in black and white"...)

Ok, so this dates me, but yes, I do remember the days before cable existed.... we did indeed have a black & white tv, and...AND... we had to GET UP and TURN THE KNOB to change the channel!! (the horrors!)

Oh, OH... and THEN you'd have to adjust the RABBIT EARS in order to get a semi-decent picture!  You had to do this each time you changed the channel!

When cable first came out, it basically eliminated the need to fiddle with the rabbit ears.

Then Showtime & HBO appeared and that was *cough* AWESOME!  ::)  Oh my, the ability to watch uncut movies without commercial interruption - WILD!  ;D  So basically, cable TV meant you could watch movies from home, and that was really cool!  ;D

Oh, and then came Turner Broadcasting Network.... watching a station from a different part of the country - what a concept. Too bad the station sucked, but it did give birth to CNN (24 hr news?! What's THAT?!?).

I can remember in high school all the hype about this new music channel on cable TV.  It was supposed to be a BIG THING, but all we saw were basically concert footage, or videos of bands just standing there lipsynching to their songs (and the sync was WAY off!).  We were not impressed.

That new channel?  MTV.

Keep in mind, the Internet wasn't available to the public yet!

Only 7 channes of HBO... pfffft!  ;D

HBO went down the crapper when Sopranos ended, and they cancelled Deadwood and Rome.  When they did that, I cancelled HBO.

I respectfully disagree, Micro.  Entourage is a great show, and even though it was short lived, I thought Lucky Louie was hilarious!

Might I suggest The History Channel, or Discovery, or National Geographic, etc. The military channel has some interesting stuff, from time to time.

You just might even learn something.

Of course, if that's a bit too much for you, you can always tune into Lifetime, or the all-day, all-soaps channel.

I think Tin would be more interested in Nickelodean.  ;)

No I get more amusement out of seeing big fish like the one in your avatar than any cartoon. ;)

And Ghoti I love the History Channel, but they repeat all their stuff. So whatever is on in the morning will be on again at around 1 or 2pm. Don't know if it just how our cable company does things or what. But if I watch the History channel from 9-noon, there is no point in watching it in the afternoon.

I shouldn't have gotten so far ahead on my school stuff. ::)

Just kidding!!!

I was really bummed when it didn't get picked up for a second season.

Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm are a few of my favs.

Glenn must have been close to a big city, rabbit ears did very little for us.

Our Dad sent us out to turn the aerial on the house to get that third channel to come in better.

Those are about the only channels I watch besides ESPN.

Yeah, the grandparents' remote control was a pipe wrench to turn the pole.   ;D  The grandkids would always fight over who got to go out and turn it.  Grandpa's little game. . . he knew what he was doing. 8-)

Well if you have HBO, then you probably have HBO On Demand.  That is the only reason I pay for HBO, as I never watch the actual programming when it comes on.  Go through and watch past seasons of Sopranos, Oz, Entourage, Rome, and The Wire to your heart's content, then watch this season of True Blood.
