Paid $3.29 last evening. I'm getting closer to a full tank (starting at 1/8th of a tank on a 17 gallon tank) for $40! Give me $.20 more cents off and I might be able to do it!  ;D

down another $0.20 overnight to $3.01.... that's almost a $0.60/gallon drop in about 4 days around here.

This is exactly the point everyone is missing. WOO HOOO! Gas is $3 a gallon....BIG DEAL. We're still being gouged. Badly.

Does anyone know what the barrel prices were before this whole mess got started? I remember pump prices being around $1.59 or so one week, then less than two weeks later pump gas was over $3. It jumped so fast that none of the gas retailers in town had any 3's to put up on their signs. Pathetic.

well i see it as way cheaper than it has been so im happy, sure its not CHEAP by any means but alot cheaper than the 4.19 i was paying this summer.

Dont get me wrong, it's good to see the prices dropping but they've still got a LONG ways to go.

no i understand totally what your saying also,but when i drive 2 hrs to bass fish, and thats the only lake for that type of fishing then heck ya im jumping up and down for 3.33 gas.

Back when oil prices first hit the $86 mark, the average price of gas was $2.76 a gallon.

Youth.  Try .59 a gallon when I first got my license. . . and that was only about 22 years ago.  I'm sure some of these old timers can remember .30-.40 a gallon when they started to drive.

tag!  The lowest price I ever remember paying was 14.5 cents, but

the "going price" at the time was 16.9 cents!

Yes I realize that it used to be cheaper haha. What I was trying to get at is that just 3 years ago it was a crisis that gas was over $3, now its considered "cheap."

I got it Mase,  I was just pokin' fun!    You know how we had it so bad back then, to school in the snow, uphill both ways, etc.  The cost of living and salaries were ALOT lower then as well.

Well, it WASN'T so bad back then. . . I'd go back in a heartbeat.  Things were so much simpler then.

1959 - 19.9 per gallon  - for about 3 days .081 to .099 depending on station: this was the approximate federal tax amount per gallon. Many came with trucks loaded down with 55-gallon drums to fill.

Cheapest I've ever seen was .97 cents.  That was approx 10 yrs ago.
