I'm thinkin that will buff out. Anywho I came out of the accident without a scratch. I rear ended a F350 which had a huge hitch on the back of it which meant no damage to the truck. Now im just wondering how much the insurance company is guna give me.

So thats what a Civic looks like with a nose job...

Sorry to hear it man.  Nothing worse than wrecking your ride.

(At least I think thats an Civic.  First thought IS300, but the rear doesn't look quite right to me.)

You should be worried about how high the cost of your insurance will be after ramming the truck from behind.

And how many attorneys will be calling him to try to sue you since you hit him from the rear.

Good luck, glad you were not injured.

  • Super User

Try not to follow so close next time.  ;)  Glad you are not injured.

You can bet whatever they give you will include a premium increase.   ;D

on the brightside, at least its not a DUI increase :)

Glad you are not hurt but that is exactly why I drive a F250 with a big hitch on the back. ;)

The insurance companies giveth, and then they taketh back.

x2 I leave the hitch on my wife's car for that reason. ;D

That car might be a total loss, sorry man. Good thing is your not hurt.

If you don't mind me asking what's your age?

I got in one accident when I was 17 and my insurance company dropped me. >:(    It was fun trying to find a new company without paying dearly for it. :-/

Yes I am 21. And what happened was I came around a corner and he was sittin there waiting to turn and i couldnt stop in time so its not like I was following him too close and got brake checked.

I'm gonna say your ride is totaled.  that hitch probably pushed its way back pretty far meaning a lot of engine components will need replaced.  Glad you are okay!

Think that'll work for ya, huh?   ;D

I wrecked my car when I was 17.  I mean totaled it.  It was my fault.  My insurance company forgave the 1st accident, and my rates didn't go up until I got a speeding ticket in my mid 20s.  Rates for young male drivers are already through the roof to start with.  It ain't the end of the world, but you'll want to avoid this, and show that you're a responsible driver.

So you're saying it's not your fault ?

No I'm not saying it wasn't my fault. I know it was. The estimate to fix it was over $10k. BUT they totaled it and offered me $5200 and my rates are only going up 15 bucks a month.

plus a new car payment????

No I'll be pickin up a used car

Haha fender bender huh? That sucks man! Ive been in a bad wreck before an they're no fun.

Since you totaled your car, you should get a truck!

A little compound, and a buff job might work. Lol. If not, maybe some touch -up paint.

Glad you were not hurt but what about the people in the truck?  Even though the truck wasn't damaged, doesn't mean the people may not have had trauma. Whiplash only takes 5mph to cause and and injury is not always apparent on the spot, by the look of your vehicle you were going faster than that.  If that were to be the case they are entitled to be legally represented, no fault laws vary from state to state.

$15 hike in your premium is getting a way pretty cheap, however if you were issued a ticket these things take some time to work thru the system.  If you had received a ticket it is not on the state data base yet, but it will be and when it is I would think your premium will rise significantly, especially if your points are adding up.

From experience tickets are more damaging than the accident, I was dropped once(14 points) and my premiums rose to $9000 a year, high risk pool, that was for 2 cars and a commercial med duty dump truck.
