i lived in Dubai for 2.5 yrs. they are investing tons of money in infrastructure because they know their oil wont last forever. they took a huge hit when the dollar went down as the Dirham is pegged with the dollar. much of the construction came to a halt (there seems to be a crane on every corner). This hotel opening up is a good sign. whether or not its stays afloat is another story.

its not as bad as you might have read. females can wear high heels, skirts, tank tops. bikinis on the beach. holding hands, hugs, a quick kiss will not get you in trouble.
