Great video. Yes that is a Wels catfish. Those things actually get about twice as big as the one he caught in the video. Amazing how he landed that fish. He just put his hands in its mouth and lifted it out. I would never do that with a catfish....

I would have. Kinda like a fresh water dolphin.  ;D

A wels cat looks like a cross between a flat head and bowfin.  

I am 99% sure that the reel was a Penn senator 114.  The rod "wow" i want that one for some of the bigger yellowtail out here.

Most guys that target these things use live bait! Especially small carp (2-3lbs.!!!) That fish was caught on live bait.
