Smallmouth Fishing Below Pickwick Dam

This has been a tough year. This region has been in a drought for nearly two years and the TVA water release schedule has not been good for weekend warriors. However, we have picked up a few and last weekend Neal (BassResource.com member ss140) caught a couple of beauties! Here are a few pics from outings the last few months. The pigs Neal caught are from Saturday, February 23, 2008:

Most of our smallmouth are caught drifting shiners on a split shot rig. Last weekend I caught four, including those pictured, on a Single-Tail GYCB Grub.

I'm fishing futher into Kentucky Lake this weedkend with CJ and hopefully Bud. We think jerkbaits might be the ticket, some friends of theirs did well last weekend throwing the Lucky Craft Pointer 78. Maybe we'll have some new pictures next week!

Probably just you and me, Speedy is guiding on the 8th.

RW how and where are you fishing your jerk bait.  I went below Wheeler yesterday and fished the heck out of a jerkbait with no luck.  no luck on a tube or ika either.  water temp was 50-52 I thought they would be near the gravel banks but only caughht 2 drum and someones old anchor.  the anchor was a keeper lol

The fish I caught were all on a GYCB Single Tail Grub, pearl w/ silver flakes, rigged on a 1/8 oz Gamakatsu round jig head. The rest of the guys were fishing shiners on a split shot rig.

RW you look cold. It seems every pic of you, your all bundeled up. What dont you fish in the summer time? You need to take a trip out here and I will show you what its like to fish in shots and  tee shirt.  :)
