Biggest fish of '07 so far...

Featured Replies

i know its kind of early to be askin' since we are only just over a month into 2007. but whats yalls biggest bass of '07  so far? also what kind of lures and presentations have you guys been using? i have caught just a couple little guys back in January. It has gotten really cold here in VA lately so i havnt been able to go out since all the lakes and ponds i fish at are frozen over. haha but i caught all of mine on jigs in deep cover and also bringing a spinner bait really slow about a foot off the bottom through some deep water....seemed to work for me...what about you guys??

4.5, in my pond on New Years Day.  It is now frozen over.

I dont get to catch my 1st until the Colorado State Team Qualifying Tournament @ Lake Amistad in Feb........My partner and I are stopping at Lake Alan Henry on the way so that's where my 1st will come in 07.........Sucks living in winter here in Colorado........We have had snow on the ground since Dec 23............Ouch!  :'(

My biggest fish this year was 12oz tuna steak, extra rare served on a bed of stir fried bok choy with ginger. Got it with an American Express plastic.

looks like your in the lead so far Wayne P......im hoping to get out and catch some whenever this snow melts that we just got in VA!!!

I managed a few keeper size largemouth on the Pamunkey River using a Rootbeer Bandit 200 series crank and a black/blue jig in about 11' of water. My dad did haul in a nice 6lb striper from the Pamunkey on a ZOOM trick worm in Okeechobee Craw on a 1/4oz jighead in 5' of water. But I haven't made a cast since the beginning of January.

I can't wait til spring cuz me and OBX are gonna be tearin up the brown bass on the Rivanna ;)

I would say close guess would be 3.5 lb. caught towards the middle of january (largemouth)

forgot caught a 24" whiper also waiting on pic from my friend since my camera was to cold to work    ;D

I've had 5 or 6 fish over 7 lbs, but I have yet to break the 8 lb mark yet this year :)

you got that right basspro!!!!! we are gonna have to wait a long while though...the rivanna has had chunks of ice floating in it so id say we wont be breaking the kayaks out for 2 months or so :-[ and we gotta work around baseball season!!! gotta remember that one!! but they are there waitin' fer us...i know where the honey holes are and i think you do also if you remember what you caught on our last trip down that river!!!!

5.6 lber, in the power plant lake where I live, fishing has been great there, they'll be on the pre-spawn in a few weeks here! heard there were some bigger ones caught earlier!

I have one just under six pounds that I caught just a few days ago.  My boga grip scale doesnt' give exact ounces but that's ok, because it is deadly accurate.

I posted the pic.

Another one of "Avids famous fish heads in the shadows."

I do have a reputation to maintain you know

I just cannot get to those bass. I went the other day and tossed a tube and it just slid across the ice. I threw a spinnerbait and it just slide across the ice as well. I need to learn more about this winter fishin. What am I doing wrong?

Those things happened to me too!!!!

I pitched a jig to a stump sticking through the ice, all I could get was a thump from under the ice ;D Bet that fish had a headache.

8# 4oz.  Lake Fork, January 25th, 1:00 PM on a rogue in Little Mustang.  Fifteen minutes lost a HOG same area, same bait.

Same for me.

I attepted to fish yesterday, and I had to run the line between my fingers on the retrieve to get the ice off. Only stayed for 15 minutes (10 of those minutes was trying to free a snag) and hurried home for some coffee.

I havn't had a hook up since november.

Caught two over 8lbs one on spinnerbait one oz kvd white and blue spinnerbait yo yoed in about 16ft of water and one on live bait

10.8 lbs back in January. I lipped a 12 for a friend the other day, does that count?!  :D
