  1. Use a heavier weight. And cast overhand.
  2. When you start the retrieve, give the rod a hard jerk. That usually gets the spinner working.
  3. Details???? Where did you launch and what did it take.
  4. Depends on how deep I am fishing. If I am flipping it will be a jig. If I am fishing deep, it would be a t-rig craw.
  5. Situation. Solid weather for the past week. high's in the low 60's upper 50's. Bass have been sited on beds, but just a few straglers the spawn is not in full blume yet. Water temp 57º, clearity 2 feet of visability. Weather forcast, high 64º and overcast turning into rain. What bait would you start off with??

  8. Its a blade bait, just like a Vibe or a Silver buddy. They work great in cold weather. The work even better for walleye!
  9. Excellent. We had our first tournament yesterday. The warmest water marked was 42.3. Only one bass was caught out of 13 boats. I caught a fish, too bad it was a musky. :-/

  12. I am the same way.. Except I have no confidence in chartruese.. So I dont throw that color when it comes down to it...
  13. I seen an article about it in Bassin magazine too. No clue what it is supposed to be, but man this thing works
  14. Well went to a local lake today to press my luck for bass after a somewhat successful steelhead trip. After getting to the lake and seeing all the shad I am glad I had a spinnerbait on. After moving from the first spot I hooked this fish in about 2 feet of water. I am guessing it was close to 19"
  15. I got the same thing JT has. It tends to slip a bit but only on the smaller fish because they seem to a lot more active when in the livewell.
  16. Where you from in Ohio??? THere is only a few lakes I have success with rattletraps around here. No clue why, always just did better with a crankbait in most lakes.. But a rattletrap will be the first thing I throw in our first tournament.
  17. Well, I was fishing my first bass tournament of last year on April 1st. It was on a lake I have never fished. My brother already had a 5 1/2lber on the boat. I hooked up on a chatterbait and my drag was singing, I thought to myself, it would be a huge bass. Then I seen a brown fish, and then I thought alright big smallie! It was a 12lb carp. :'(
  18. Vanish is absolutley garbage. I lost more fish with 8lb vanish, then I did with 4lb pline fluorocarbon. Gamma, Pline, and Seagur are all excellent. I would stay away from Berkley vanish though.
  19. I just realized something in light of the post your tackle topic, I brought a box to every tournament I fished and did not use it once! Do you have a box that you bring to your day at the lake but you "usually" dont use?? And why?? Mine is lizards and flukes. Usually carolina rigged a brush hog, and used senkos over flukes. No clue why I bring them I just do.
  20. Avid! Buy a minnow trap! A little cage with holes on each side, add a few piece of bread and a old donut. Throw it into a creek, river, pond over night. I catch chubs, minnows, shad, and crawdads that way. Be sure to check the rules and guidelines of where you throw it first!
  21. Only times I fish live bait for bass is in the spring with minnows for big river run bass and steelhead. Or everyonce in a while I will use a live softcraw. Thats all
  22. Caught a 33" carp this year. Sure was a pig! Only one bass... 14"???
