Your gonna laugh at me when tell you its a xr100 one knocker your thinking one oz in that depth water seems big but the larger bait bigger profile actually doesn't run much deeper than the 3/4 oz version it has a little more bouyance sounds crazy but it works for me

Get a lure retriever, and put those baits to work!

I have one, but I just have the confidence in the cheapos. I also hoard lures, and have a ton of high end stuff I never end up using. I should start posting some stuff in the flea market.

The KVD's have their time to shine. But so do the others. I just wish I knew which times they were lol I've been spanked out of the back of the boat with a RES against a Rat L Trap. But, i've also done the same thing in reverse. They all employ different sounds, vibrations, and actions, its been really hard for me to pick out which bait to use in which condition. I usually go with the Red Eye Shad though especially later in the fall and early in the spring because I like the way it flutters when popped or jerked and paused. So, I feel that this is one bait that does several different things OK while all the others can do one thing (exaggeration), but they do it really good. So I don't have to reach around a grab another rod for a fluttering bait, or a rip bait, or a fast moving bait, etc...

I'm a big fan of the voltage line up at dicks either in red craw color or chrome

Love those things... Cheap and work great. Only downside is the eyes fall off too easily, just paint them on instead of dealing with the eyes.

Red eyed shads are awesome too, but I find myself using the Voltage lipless cranks more.

The only ones I could get at my local shop were the ArukaShad. Enough of you gave it a mention so I'm happy to find it. Going to use it tomorrow morning. It is supposed to be a very calm day so I will try to stay very deep with it and make some noise on the bottom ripping through the dead weeds and bouncing off whatever I come across. Thanks for the advice.

Mostly Red Eye Shad, some Yo-Zuri. As of tonight, I've caught 204 fish this season on lipless cranks: RES-137, Yo-Zuri-53, Misc-14.

All the recommendations for Aruku Shad have got my attention - if I can find some on sale...

My faves are the Rapala Rattlin' Raps. Blue /Chrome is my killer.

For 6'-9' of water I would also reccomend the Aruka Shad, Yozuri or Evergreen Buzzer Beater. The 5/8 oz baits stay down a little better than 1/2 oz Rattletraps, Red Eye Shads & Cordell Spots. Of course you could always go to the 3/4 oz baits for a bigger profile.

Another vote for Aruku Shad.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the lipless crank series from academy. they have nearly the same profile as the aruku shad, great hooks, and detailed paint. not to mention the fact that they're about 3.50 a pop

I have no problems fishing them as a matter of fact it makes me feel a little more financially responsible. I have a friend that fishes spro's exclusively and while we've never worn each other out while fishing, him with spro me with h2o, we were pretty neck and neck except for in the price department. it did take him a while to bite into the h20 series but now he's a firm believer. I let him sift through the 3 lipless boxes I have and he was amazed at the detail and variety that they offer.

I'd say 85-90% of my cranks are H2O's. Can't beat em for the price, I tried a handful of their lipless models and just didn't like them, think I may have gotten a few bad ones. The rest of them have been great.

I put the Rattle Trap first..... I keep losing the red eye shads and catch nothing. I know guys swear by them, and they look so good, but do nothing for me but catch the bottom. I have no idea why because I have done rather well with a simple chrome rattle trap. I keep buying red eye shads, but starting to wonder why I tie them on instead of a trap.

I also love that rattle traps come in a floating version. Great for buzzing over the top of some shallow weed beds.

As a fan of the lipless floater, you might also like the Sebile Flatt Shad SU - this model Suspends at @ 2 feet deep and will not sink any further.

Thanks for the heads up, i will def go check that out. I am trying out this winter a similar idea..... floating rattle traps with storm suspending strips...... basically making a lipless crank into a suspending jerk bait..... fingers crossed

Strike king diamond shad and the original rattling rapala still put a ton of fish in the boat for me!

I really like the Strike King Red Eye! Sexy shad and blue gill have been my highest producing colors.

Cotton Cordell Super Spot has produced well for me in the past. I've actually had quite a bit of trouble with Rattle Traps.
