What's the deal with chatterbaits.  I never saw them out west and here they're everywhere.  Are they worth it?

In so cali there's a few guys, including myself that throw chatter baits. From what I gather not many people around here use them, which is fine by me, they do catch fish. I use the the strikeking pure poison, cuz the guys in the know here recommended them.

Chatterbaits or their knockoffs work everywhere. A  similar constructed model is the one on the *** site. The components are of higher quality.

When using the original Chatterbait, sharpen the hook, right out

of the pkg. When bass are busting shad, I'll replace the skirt with a soft minnow type of bait, such as the Super Fluke Jr. Try fishing

it S-L-O-W. It's Deadly !!

I cannot name a single lure that will not catch bass,

but I can name a bunch of lures I'd rather fish than a chatterbait.

Needless to say, that's only one man's opinion.

its a great bait my second favorite spinnerbait............ but make sure to use a trailer hook or you will miss most of your fish........

I tried a tip I got off here when fishing got slow, took the skirt off and put a banjo minnow for a trailer......... looked super in the water......

Yes, they are worth it. I have caught large fish on them, espeacially when I change its profile by putting on a beefy trailer. They have the actins of spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and jigs all in 1. I always use a steady retrieve but vary the speed and add twitches every once in a while. You won't get a ton of bites, but the ones you get will be quality, with or without a trailer. I prefer the 3/8 oz. with a black and blue skirt. I use a 4 inch Mr. Twister double tail grub in black when the bass are looking for a big meal. My biggest fish was 4 pounds 14 oz. That's a good size bass in New Jersey. Stick with it, it will produce all year long. Good luck.
